More than 300 Boko Haram Militants Raids North Cameroonian Village, Burn Churches
ICC Note: Villagers in northern Cameroon have reported more than 300 Boko Haram militants raided Gorsi Tourou Village, burning churches and looting property. Though no deaths were reported following the attack Friday, under-reporting and misinformation have plagued the region, providing further impetus, beyond the lack of security, for Boko Haram to act.  A radical Islamic insurgency designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the United States and an al-Qaeda affiliate by a United Nations Security Council Committee, Boko Haram continues to wage a campaign of terror against Christians, moderate Muslims, educators, students, government officials and military personnel.

Up To 1000 Christian Families Flee Iraq’s Second City
With a power vacuum emerging in Iraq, a Sunni extremist group has taken over the second largest city in Iraq. This takeover has caused over a thousand Christian families to leave the area to find a safer place. ISIS, the radical Sunni extremist group, has been taking military advantage in Iraq since the Prime Minister won in the recent election and continues to struggle to form a government.

Arkansas Congressman Introduces Bill to Grant Meriam Permanent Legal Status in US
ICC Note: In the latest development on Capitol Hill regarding the case of Meriam Ibrahim, Arkansas Congressman Tom Cotton has introduced a bill that would grant Meriam Ibrahim, as well as her two children, permanent resident status in the United States. Meriam was sentenced to death by hanging last month in Khartoum, Sudan, after refusing to give up her Christian faith. She is currently imprisoned with her 20-month-old son Martin and newborn daughter Maya in Khartoum. Meriam's husband, Daniel, is a US citizen and a resident of New Hampshire.

Europe: Anti-Christian Hostility Growing Rapidly?
ICC Note: The following article takes a look at numerous alarming cases of Christians in Europe facing hate-speech, job loss, and high levels of hostility for publicly stating traditional orthodox Christian perspectives on sensitive social issues. Even a Christian member of parliament in the UK has had his children bullied in school and has received large amounts of hate mail for taking a traditional Christian viewpoint of marriage. ICC has been carefully monitoring increased hostility towards Christianity both in Europe and the United States.

Shocking Video Shows Dozens of Chinese Christians’ Desperate Attempts to Halt Destruction of Church Cross
After 3 ½ -hour Standoff, Church Members Begin 24-hour Vigil Through the Night
Early this morning, International Christian Concern (ICC) obtained a video of Christians in Wenzhou City, China, attempting to stop the forcible demolition of a church cross. At 5:00 a.m., June 11, 2014, hundreds of government personnel equipped with a crane and other construction machines, without any legal documents or advanced warning, forcibly broke into BaiXiang GuanTou Church attempting to remove the cross from the building’s roof. Church members responded by mounting a standoff for three-and-a-half hours. Local sources report that, though the government demolition team retreated temporarily, they are not done with the church yet. Around 80 believers are gathering in the church through the night to keep watch and protect the cross.

Why is Obama Silent about Meriam?
ICC Note: In the following Op-Ed, Rebecca Tinsley explores the question of why no senior level official in the U.S. administration has publicly spoken out on behalf of Meriam Ibrahim, the mother of two and wife of a U.S. citizen sentenced to death for apostasy last month in Khartoum, Sudan.  The article provides an insightful overview of the U.S relationship with touches on Sudan's atrocious human rights record. This week, ICC will be co-sponsoring two protests on behalf of Meriam Ibrahim at the White House and the Sudanese Embassy.

Turkey Blacklists Boko Haram As Terrorist Organization, Imposes Sanctions
ICC Note: Turkey formally listed Boko Haram a terrorist organization Tuesday, joining several other nations that had already done so in the past year, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Boko Haram, or "Western education is forbidden," is a radical Islamic insurgency responsible for more than 2,000 deaths this year alone and the mass-kidnapping of more than 240 schoolgirls from a secondary school in Chibok, Nigeria. The group, founded in 2001, has pursued the establishment of a separate Islamic state for more than a decade. Following its most recent spat of indiscriminate killings, however, questions remain as to whether the group maintains a specific, achievable goal, or if it has simply become an equipped insurgency bent on terrorizing Nigeria's north.

European Commission, Council and Parliament Condemn Sudan
ICC Note: Presidents of the European Commission, European Council and European Parliament joined religious leaders in issuing a statement condemning Sudan's sentencing to death a mother of two and wife to an American citizen for her Christian faith. The statement joins still growing international outcry over Meriam's conviction of and sentencing for adultery and apostasy, in this case the crime of leaving Islam

Despite Being a Religious Minority, Christians Play a Big Role in Bangladesh
ICC Note: In Bangladesh, a Muslim majority country, Christians make up less than one percent of the country's population. Despite this, the Christian community continues to play a major role in the development of Bangladesh and the protection of human rights. In many areas, Christians are discriminated against and persecuted, especially when caught proselytizing to the Muslim community. Please pray for the small Christian community of Bangladesh.

Iraqi Christians Flee as Jihadist Group Captures Iraq’s Second Largest City
International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that the extremist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has taken control of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. The extremist group has been among the most violent fighting in Syria against the regime of Bashar al-Assad over the past three years, and now has once again attacked important areas in Iraq, bringing new threats to the already struggling Iraqi church.

Christian in India Murdered After His Son Receives Baptism
ICC Note: According to reports, a Christian man living in India's northeastern state of Orissa, now called Odisha, was murdered by a mob of Hindu radicals after his son received baptism. In the village of Dherubada, a local Christian community baptized 29 new Christians. Following the ceremony, the father of one of those baptized was attacked by a mob of radicals and murdered. Shortly after the attack, the son of the man witnessed the Hindu radicals with his fathers body and had his life threatened. Now the Christian community in that area is demanding justice, but is also finding itself under greater threat from local radicals. Please pray for these persecuted Christians.

American Held in North Korea Is A Christian
ICC Note: On June 6th, North Korean state media announced that Jeffrey Edward Fowle was detained "in violation of the DPRK law, contrary to the purpose of tourism during his stay." Japan's Kyodo News reported that Mr. Fowle left a Bible in his hotel room which may cause the North Korean regime to suspect that he was a Christian proselytizer. Mr. Fowle is a municipal road-maintenance man from southwestern Ohio and he attends Urbancrest Baptist Church in nearby West Carrollton, Ohio, according to the Wall Street Journal. The lawyer who represents Mr. Fowle's family said Mr. Fowle wasn't on a mission for his Church.

House of Lords Demands Refugee Status for Meriam Ibrahim and Her Children
ICC Note: Britain's House of Lords held a robust discussion regarding Meriam Ibrahim's detention and sentencing to 100 lashes and death for her Christian. Suggestions of Lord members included ensuring British aid is conditioned on religious freedom issues to an extension of refugee status for Meriam and her children should she be released. The United Kingdom has spoken out regarding Meriam's case for  weeks, Prime Minister David Cameron having categorized Meriam's sentencing as "barbaric."

A test that fails
A standard test for admission to graduate school misses potential winners, say Casey Miller and Keivan Stassun. Universities in the United States rely too heavily on the graduate record examinations (GRE) — a standardized test introduced in 1949 that is an admissions requirement for most US graduate schools. This practice is poor at selecting the most capable students and severely restricts the flow of women and minorities into the sciences.
