One Year Later: Americans Targeted by the Obama Administration’s IRS Deserve Justice

Prayer Reaffirmed at the Supreme Court: Town of Greece v. Galloway
In a landmark decision today, the Supreme Court reaffirmed 5-4 that prayer before legislative meetings is constitutional. In debunking one of the greatest myths in Establishment Clause jurisprudence, the Court held that not only is opening such meetings in prayer constitutional, it is not limited to nonsectarian (i.e. generic) prayer.  In other words, a prayer “in Jesus name” does not violate the Constitution.

IN OREGON SENATE GOP PRIMARY, BELTWAY FAVORITE VS 'HOMELESS TO HARVARD' UNDERDOG
The Republican Senate primary in Oregon on May 20 is emerging as one of the most interesting races in the country. The seat, currently held by one-term incumbent Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), has suddenly come in play, at least in the minds of some Republican leaders, due in part to the scandals related to the state of Oregon's failed implementation of an Obamacare exchange.

Putin's 'Human Rights Council' Accidentally Posts Real Crimean Election Results
According to a major Ukrainian news site, TSN.ua, the website of the President of Russia’s Council on Civil Society and Human Rights (shortened to President’s Human Rights Council) posted a report that was quickly taken down as if it were toxic radioactive waste. According to this purported report about the March referendum to annex Crimea, the turnout of Crimean voters was only 30 percent. And of these, only half voted for the referendum–meaning only 15 percent of Crimean citizens voted for annexation.

FCC’s grab for new regulatory power could go beyond broadband providers
For years, edge providers — Pandora, Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp, to name just a few — have flourished from the government’s hands-off approach to the Internet. Both Republicans and Democrats championed a structure that allowed the “application layer” of Internet architecture to be free from government intervention, apart from occasional Federal Trade Commission activity. That is now subject to change. A very real threat is that edge providers could fall within the reach of the FCC’s newly invented authority to regulate the Internet under Section 706 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Get A Free Insider’s Report On the Life of Blasphemy Victims
To be accused of "blasphemy" in Pakistan is to be marked with a figurative scarlet letter.  Christians live in constant dread of being accused of blasphemy because an accusation can mean your home being burned to the ground, going into hiding with your family, a death sentence, or a public execution by an angry mob. Download ICC's incredible report on the Christians affected by Pakistan's killer blasphemy laws: http://info.persecution.org/Living-the-Nightmare

90 Percent of 180 Identified Girls Kidnapped by Boko Haram Profess Christianity
International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that Islamic insurgency and U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) Boko Haram has overwhelmingly abducted self-proclaimed Christians in its raid on a government-sponsored secondary school in Chibok, northern Nigeria. Boko Haram leaders have formally claimed responsibility for the mass kidnapping of 243 school girls and, as reported by the parents of the abducted, Boko Haram is suspected to still be in possession of more than 230 school girls who are being sold into domestic and sexual servitude for as little as $12.00 each.

Boko Haram Claims 243 Girl Abduction, Pledges to Sell Remaining Missing into Domestic Slavery
ICC Note: In a reprehensible video released May 5th, Boko Haram leader and spokesman, Ababukar Shekau, claimed responsibility on behalf of the radical Islamic insurgency and U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) for the abduction of 243 girls from a government-sponsored secondary school in Northern Nigeria's Christian stronghold, Chibok. Threatening to sell the more than 230 girls still in captivity to human trafficking rings just beyond Nigeria's borders with Chad and Cameroon, Shekau claimed "Allah has instructed [him] to sell them." The video was circulated just a day after the release of a list compiled by affiliates of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) that identifies 163 of the 230 still missing girls as professed Christians.

90% of School Girls Abducted by Boko Haram Militants Are Christians
ICC Note: On the same day a Boko Haram spokesman officially declared the radical insurgency's responsibility for the kidnapping of 243 school girls from a secondary school in Chibok, Northern Nigeria, reports were released detailing the names and religious affiliations of 180 of those abducted. Chibok being one of few remaining Christian strongholds in Nigeria's increasingly Islamized North, more than 90% of the 180 identified girls have been identified as Christians. Confirming allegations the girls were specifically targeted for their faith, the revelation reiterates the specificity with which Boko Haram continues to carry out its campaign of terror against northern Christian populations in its quest to establish a separate Islamic state to be ruled by Sharia.

State Department Turning a Blind Eye to Christian Persecution?
ICC Note: The following article highlights the recommendations made last week to the U.S. State Department regarding the designation of "Countries of Particular Concern." This official designation is reserved for nations that allow or are complicit in particularly severe violations of religious freedom and allows the U.S to potentially impose sanctions on those nations until improvements are made. The State Department has not updated the list since 2006, sending a strong signal that religious freedom is not a critical issue to the United States in its relationship with the rest of the world.

Anti-Christian Rumor Campaign Needs to be Confronted in Bangladesh
ICC Note: The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) located in eastern Bangladesh are very remote and cut off. This remoteness is only increased by the strict military control exerted over the region by Bangladesh's Muslim majority government. This remoteness has led to Christian ministries being isolated and attacked by Islamic fundamentalists seeking to bring only Islam to the CHT. Please pray for these Christian ministries in CHT.

Pakistani Christians Fleeing Persecution in Thailand Continue to Struggle
ICC Note: As religious extremism and persecution continues to escalate in Pakistan, many Pakistani Christians are selling all of their belongings and fleeing the country in hope of finding freedom. Unfortunately, what they are finding is more suffering. The number of Pakistani refugees in Thailand has recently doubled. Many of these Christians are now suffering because they have no status in Thailand meaning they cannot legally work. Once the funds these Christian families have saved up has run out, they are forced to scrape by just to live. There are a few Christian ministries and NGOs seeking to assist these Christians, but there are not enough resources to help all of the families seeking shelter in Thailand.

ICC Calls on Government of Sudan to Release Christian Mother on Death Row
This morning, International Christian Concern (ICC), a Washington D.C. based non-profit that assists religious minorities facing discrimination for their faith, called upon the government of Sudan to release a pregnant Christian mother facing execution on charges of adultery and apostasy.

Pakistani Court Sets Date for Asia Bibi Blasphemy Appeal
ICC Note: A court in Pakistan has set a new date for the first appeal hearing in the blasphemy case against Asia Bibi. In 2009, Asia was accused and later sentenced to death in 2010 after being falsely accused of blasphemy. After languishing in prison for over four and a half years, Asia's first appeal hearing was set for late February or early March 2014. Since then, the court has delayed the case multiple times. Judges hearing the case say that they are delaying the case because of threats from extremist groups. With the new appeal date set for May 27, only time will tell whether the appeal will actually go through.

Evolution in species may reverse predator-prey population cycles
Populations of predators and their prey usually follow predictable cycles. When the number of prey increases -- perhaps as their food supply becomes more abundant -- predator populations also grow. When the predator population becomes too large, however, the prey population often plummets, leaving too little food for the predators, whose population also then crashes. Co-evolutionary changes in species may reverse traditional predator-prey population cycles, creating the appearance that prey are eating the predators, according to a new study.
