ENVIRONMENTALIST RADICALS DRIVE UP MEMORIAL DAY FOOD COSTS
The federal government, at the behest of radical environmentalists, has decided over the past few years that flushing fresh water out to the Pacific Ocean in a test to save a fish was a higher priority than providing that same water to farms in the central valley of California. This year, with drought conditions drying up other sources for water, the federal government has gone so far as to cut the farming allocations to zero.

Congressman Recalls Secretary Clinton’s Refusal to Designate Boko Haram A Terrorist Org
ICC Note: Representative Trent Franks (R) (AR-8) delivered a speech to the House of Representatives Thursday, reminding members of his calls upon then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to designate Boko Haram a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), and to call on the House to “face Boko Haram for the terrorist group that it is, and defeat it.” The United States’ Department of State formally designated Boko Haram an FTO in November of 2013. Frank’s speech concurred with a United Nations Security Council Committee’s addition of Boko Haram to a list of known al-Qaeda affiliates. The designation allows for greater imposition of assets freezes, travel bans, and weapons against Boko Haram and its membership.

Senators Implore Obama Admin. to Help Christian Mother on Death Row in Sudan
ICC Note: In a new letter written to the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security, two Senators are calling on the Obama Administration to assist Meriam Ibrahim, the 27-year-old Christian mother who has been sentenced to death in Sudan for the crime of "apostasy." The letter calls on the State Department and Homeland Security to coordinate their efforts closely on the case and also urges the administration to respond to human rights abuses committed against Saeed Abedini, a US citizen and pastor currently imprisoned in Iran. The letter is a follow up to a previous letter asking Secretary Kerry to grant political asylum to Meriam Ibrahim.

Zhejiang Province Unleashes Massive Attack on Over 64 Churches in China:
An Outright Violation of Central Government’s Stated Goal of Religious Freedom for Its Citizens
On April 28th, Zhejiang province officials bulldozed the 4,000-seat Sanjiang Christian Church in Wenzhou City despite a weeks-long protest involving hundreds of Christian attendees who formed a human chain around the church. What appeared to be an isolated event, has on further investigation by International Christian Concern (ICC) been revealed to be a widespread and massive anti-church crackdown with 64 churches in Zhejiang Province alone having been destroyed and/or their crosses (or steeples) torn down. ChinaAid is reporting that authorities once tore down 50 crosses in one day in Wenzhou City. Another 85 house churches recently received government orders to stop gathering and may face closure by the government by the end of May.

Criminal Code Inciting Border Fears
ICC Note: The North Korean government added five extra clauses to the country’s criminal code to control the communication with the outside world, showing the regime’s anxiety at the cross-border activities. It happened after the government publicly blamed Christian missionaries reaching North Koreans near the border in China.

Debate Over How Modi Will Treat Christians in India Continues
ICC Note: With the victory of Narendra Modi and his BJP in India's recent national elections, many Christians are debating how Modi and his political party will treat minorities. Both Modi and the BJP have a history of persecuting religious minorities and have been implicated in several incidents of religiously motivated violence. The question now is whether these actions are a thing of the past or something that Christians in India will experience in the very near future.

Blasphemy Charge Against TV Station Shows Double Standard in Pakistan
ICC Note: Last week, blasphemy charges were registered against the GEO media group in Pakistan and several other members of a television show on the GEO channel. The charges were registered following "objectionable clips" being shown on one of the television shows. The general public's reaction to the charges, or lack there of, shows that there is a clear double standard when it comes to blasphemy in Pakistan. When a Christian is accused, mobs of enraged Muslim quickly gather together, attempt to lynch the accused blasphemer and sometimes destroy entire Christian communities. In this case, no such violent reaction has occurred? Why is there such a double standard?

Eeek! An Armed Citizen!
The presence of a single, nonviolent citizen openly carrying a firearm is sufficient to cause panic in people habituated to the evil idea that only state functionaries should be armed. So acutely alarmed do such people become that their first reaction is to call the police, thereby inviting the intervention of additional armed strangers who — owing to the indoctrination they’ve received and the “qualified immunity” they enjoy — are immeasurably more dangerous than the first.

New Group Takes Aim At Obama Administration’s ‘Operation Choke Point’
We’ve written before about Operation Choke Point, an anti-fraud program that the Department of Justice is improperly and illegally using as an excuse to make life hard on certain types of legal businesses — including gun retailers.

More Progressive Hypocrisy
In a free society, a business should be able to engage in a voluntary transaction or contract, or not, as the owner sees fit, just as the customer has the ability to choose whether to purchase a good or service from a particular business. If a business wants to refuse service to a person wielding a gun, good for it. Likewise, if a business wants to refuse to perform a service for any other reason, the business should have that right as well.

We now know that an increase in asthma coincides with a switch from butter to certain oil-based diets. A large new Northwestern Medicine study ties the increasing consumption of supposedly healthy vitamin rich oils -- canola, soybean and corn -- to the rising incidence of lung inflammation and asthma. All three oils coincidentally come from genetically modified sources.

Tiny muscles help bats fine-tune flight, stiffen wing skin
Bats appear to use a network of hair-thin muscles in their wing skin to control the stiffness and shape of their wings as they fly, according to a new study. The finding provides new insight about the aerodynamic fine-tuning of membrane wings, both natural and human-made.
