Moldy Baloney About Vets’ Benefits
A Democratic PAC is serving up some 11-year-old baloney in an attempt to keep ex-House member Doug Ose from returning to Congress. It accuses the California Republican of voting “to slash veterans’ benefits by $15 billion,” when what he actually voted for — way back in 2003 — was an increase.

Indonesia: 40 Churches Are Being Shut Down Every Year
Behind Church Closures, the Specter of Intolerance
ICC Note: Religious intolerance against Christian churches is on rise in Indonesia. Under the pressure of Islamic hardliners, churches are being shut down by local authorities at an average of 40 churches per year. The local law makes it extremely difficult to gain the permit to establish a Christian worship building and local authorities. According to the article, some rights activists argued that several requirements “make it nearly impossible to set up anything other than a mosque.”

The Persecuted Whose Names We Don’t Know
ICC Note: Saeed Abedini, Meriam Yahia Ibrahim. Do you know these names? There are thousands more who are also facing persecution for their faith. Some whose names we know, and others we don’t. The United States has historically been one of the foremost defenders of the fundamental right of religious freedom. Currently, the tools in place to advance this right are not be utilized. Key positions are vacant. Tools that can apply pressure are ignored.

‘Unique’ Religious Freedom Restrictions in Saudi Arabia: Not a Single Church Exists
ICC Note: Saudi Arabia is among the most restrictive places in the world for religious minorities. Despite millions of Christians living there as foreign workers, there is not a single church in the country. Charges of blasphemy and apostasy are not uncommon and carry with them a high price.

Nigerian Police Back Away from “Ban” On Protests to #BringBackOurGirls
ICC Note: Backing away from a statement by Nigerian Police Commissioner Joseph Mbu Monday, June 2, Police Spokesman Frank Mba said on Tuesday that Nigerians are free to protest in Abuja and its Federal Capital Territory (FTC), but were advised against doing so. Citing ongoing security concerns, Mba maintained Mbu's implication that protests have and could be compromised and "hijacked" by "criminal elements having links with insurgents." Protests erupted throughout Abuja shortly after Boko Haram militants mass-abducted more than 240 predominantly Christian school girls from a secondary school in northeast Nigeria. Today is their 58th day in captivity.

Heavy Fines and Confiscated Religious Literature Follows Police Raid in Azerbaijan
AZERBAIJAN: "The banned book the Old Testament was confiscated"
Azerbaijan tightly censors religious activity within its borders, including meetings in private homes and all kinds of religious literature. A recent police raid on a Jehovah’s Witness meeting – which ended in the confiscation of Bibles and other religious literature, as well as two women receiving heavy fines – underscores a consistent record of violation of religious freedoms, including that of Christians, all perpetrated and unaddressed by the Azerbaijani government. Although we are aware that Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christians, we share this news article as it is an excellent depiction of the state of religious freedom in Azerbaijan. Situations such as this are perpetrated against Christians regularly.

Suspect Arrested in Connection to Abduction of Jesuit Priest in Afghanistan
ICC Note: Security forces in Afghanistan have arrested a suspect in connection with the abduction of a Jesuit priest in Afghanistan's Herat province. The arrest took place yesterday, June 4. The priest was abducted on Monday, June 2. Since the abduction, no group has taken responsibility nor has any group demanded a ransom. Many believe the priest was abducted because he was a foreigner, not because he was a priest. Please pray for his safe return home.

U.N. Raises Concerns Over Lack of Religious Freedom in Bhutan
ICC Note: After becoming a constitutional democracy in 2008, Bhutan's constitution enshrined the right to religious freedom. Unfortunately, that right has not been fully realized by Bhutanese Christians. Christianity in Bhutan is still not recognized as a legal religion. The United Nations has raised concerns over the issue of religious freedom in Bhutan, but failed to bring up the issues facing the country's Christian population. Will Christians in Bhutan every be granted legal status?

Religious Repression in Saudi Arabia
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains one of the most restrictive countries in the world in regards to religious freedom and human rights. Despite the fact that millions of Christians – largely foreign workers – live in the country, there is not a single place of worship. Saudi Arabia is officially an Islamic state, home to some of the most extreme interpretations of Islam. Those who express disagreement or dissent are regularly arrested on charges of apostasy or blasphemy. The grave abuse of fundamental rights in Saudi Arabia, an American ally, should not go unaddressed as millions of Christians are denied the freedom to worship God, and millions more suffer under the Kingdom’s harsh Sharia-inspired laws.

G7 Leaders Term Boko Haram Abductions An “Unconscionable Crime,” Pledge Support
ICC Note: Wednesday, June 4, the leaders of the G7 (or group of seven, referring to its membership of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States) released a joint statement on a plethora of issues, separated by country, as well as some more general human rights and international security issues. In closing the statement, the leaders once again affirmed their commitment to assisting the Nigerian government in locating, releasing, and safely returning more than 240 schoolgirls abducted April 14 by Boko Haram militants, who in the last 10 days have killed more than 250 civilians and destroyed dozens of churches.

Watch as ‘the Beast’ Asteroid Sails Past Earth This WeekA giant asteroid will silently glide by Earth this week, a stark reminder of cosmic dangers lurking nearby. Measuring about 1,067 feet (325 meters) wide, the space intruder nicknamed “the Beast,” more formally known as HQ124, has an estimated width equal to an aircraft carrier (earlier estimates had been even larger). It will be three lunar distances away from Earth at its closest approach on Thursday, so thankfully there is no risk to our planet.

Moral narcissism creates an atmosphere of dishonesty bizarrely similar to Islamic taqqiya.  In Islam, the believer is permitted to lie to the non-believer because the believer has the greater truth.  For the moral narcissist, lies becomes truth in almost the same manner.

In the first evidence of a natural intervention triggering stem cell-based regeneration of an organ or system, a study shows that cycles of prolonged fasting not only protect against immune system damage -- a major side effect of chemotherapy -- but also induce immune system regeneration, shifting stem cells from a dormant state to a state of self-renewal.
