In the early 1830s, the British Parliament infringed on the Church’s ecclesial authority through the Whig party’s Church Temporalities Act (1833). This legislation attacked the Church of Ireland through restructuring, and ultimately decreased the number of bishoprics. These governmental oversteps served as a catalyst for John Keble’s sermon “National Apostasy,” preached at St. Mary’s, Oxford, where he urged his fellow clergymen to submit to the Church rather than the state—particularly where the state was misguided. His sermon kick-started what is now known as the Oxford Movement, an Anglican group intent on restoring the catholic character of the English Church.

WALSH: The Jussie Smollett Case Shows What Privilege In America Really Looks Like
I'm old enough to remember when the Left was afraid that a biased third party would intervene in an investigation and shut down the judicial process in spite of the existence of overwhelming evidence. That never happened in the Mueller probe, as liberals insisted it would. However it did just happen in the Jussie Smollett case.

Here Are 4 Egregious Ways the Left Wants to Transform American Politics
1. Packing the Supreme Court; 2. Granting Statehood to Washington, D.C.; 3. Electoral College; 4. Lowering the Voting Age. While it’s not unprecedented to alter the number of seats on the Supreme Court, proponents of “court packing” should explain why they want to do so. The Framers rightly feared the tendency of pure democracy to descend into mob rule and run roughshod over the rights of disfavored minorities. If liberals truly care about raising the next generation to be engaged and informed they should start by demanding civics education, not ballots, for youth.

Unskilled Workers and Food Prices in America (1919-2019)
Basic food items in America have become almost eight times cheaper relative to unskilled labor over the last 100 years. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has stated "Capitalism is irredeemable." In fact, a market that functions relatively freely and competitively delivers enormous benefits to all people - especially those at the bottom of the income ladder.

Crazy Train: ‘Hardball’ Panel Offers Conspiracies on Mueller Report, Trump as a Dictator
Tuesday’s Hardball saw an opening panel led by host Chris Matthews that showed the desperation of the liberal media following Attorney General Bill Barr’s Sunday letter on the main conclusions of the Mueller report. In roughly 15 minutes, they peddling conspiracy theories that this rollout was conceived of some time ago, that Barr was picked solely to save Trump, and that America’s now a “crazy country” because it elected Trump. Like far too many of his colleagues in the press trying to still muddy the waters on Trump, Matthews wanted to know why “[i]f the President was so damn innocent, why does it take two years to get cleared of collusion” even though Mueller led “a thorough-going investigation we had to have in this country.”

Brit Hume Calls Trump-Russia Coverage ‘Worst Journalistic Debacle of My Lifetime’
Despite the efforts of some people in the “mainstream media” to downplay the information in Robert Mueller’s report that exonerates President Trump of collusion with Russia, at least one person has stepped in to point out the overwhelming bias on the issue over the past two years. While a guest on the America’s Newsroom program on Monday morning, veteran Fox News analyst Brit Hume hammered media coverage of the investigation, which he called not only “bad reporting,” but also “the worst journalistic debacle of my lifetime.”

Undaunted By the Facts, CNN Continues to Push Collusion Conspiracy Theory
“The Special Counsel did not find that any U.S. person or Trump campaign official or associate conspired or knowingly coordinated with the [Russians] in [their] efforts…” That’s what Attorney General William Barr wrote in his letter to Congress summarizing the Mueller report. Yet, despite the facts compiled after two years of investigations, CNN continues to breathlessly push conspiratorial accusations of collusion between President Trump and Russia. Over the last two nights, CNN’s prime time hosts have found no shame in continuing to push what had become their obsession for two years.

Another enticing sign along the road toward serfdom is "equality." It is one of the most appealing enticements of all, and therefore holds great danger to liberty and freedom. Analysis of this question is most difficult to accomplish with brevity, yet its importance justifies the attempt. Equality of economic benefits (both income and wealth) seems to have wide appeal. To some it is appealing for ideological reasons; they believe equality to be ideal from the standpoint of justice. Others support the idea for selfish reasons; I would guess that four-fifths or more of the people believe themselves to be below the average in income, and therefore stand to gain through equalization. And everyone would like to equalize with those who are better off than he himself is.

It is broadly accepted that out of Enlightenment thinking came many of the “goods” of our society; goods economic, political, and social. Goods ranging from the material wealth and the technology we enjoy to classical liberalism and libertarianism. It is on the latter that I will focus. An exhaustive discussion of the connection of Enlightenment thought to Classical liberalism and libertarianism is not necessary for this audience, so I will summarize: reason, the individual, equality, property rights, the separation of church and state, and science and politics freed from religious dogma.  These pillars underlie the classical liberalism that many point to and exclaim: here, we finally found freedom!  Instead, what if these have cost us our freedom?
