As Top Historians Ring Alarm Bells About NYT’s 1619 Project, Defiant Public Schools Refuse To Answer Questions
“On August 19 of last year I listened in stunned silence as Nikole Hannah-Jones, a reporter for the New York Times, repeated an idea that I had vigorously argued against,” reads the first sentence of Friday’s essay by Leslie Harris, a history professor at Northwestern University. Harris is just the latest in a string of academics to levy criticism on Hannah-Jones and the 1619 Project. She is the first, however, who actually took part in the project as a fact-checker. During the publication process for 1619, Harris “vigorously disputed” the idea that the American Revolution was actually about preserving slavery. Nonetheless, there it was in print come August 2019.

CS Lewis’s lost letters reveal how wife’s death tested his faith
The great tragedy of CS Lewis’s life was the loss of his wife, Joy Davidman, to cancer in 1960. Her death tested the faith of the Chronicles of Narnia author, who was also a prominent Christian thinker. Now a cache of previously unpublished letters from Lewis, written in the months before his own death, reveal the extent to which his grief remained raw, even as he confronted his own physical decline and mortality.

Coronavirus deaths in Washington now at 16, with 102 confirmed cases
Officials had confirmed 102 novel coronavirus cases in Washington state, including 16 deaths, as of Saturday morning. Of the 16 confirmed deaths in the state, 14 have been associated to Life Care Center of Kirkland, according to Public Health – Seattle & King County. The nursing home has been linked to at least 48 total confirmed cases, and information released by Life Care Center Saturday indicate the number may be higher.
