Chinese manufacturing hits record low amid coronavirus outbreak
Factory activity in China fell at a record rate in February, as manufacturers closed their operations to contain the spread of coronavirus. The country's official measure of manufacturing activity - the Purchasing Manager's Index (PMI) - dropped to 35.7 from 50 in January. It shows the virus is having a bigger impact than the financial crisis that shook the world last decade. The data also suggests that factories are struggling to find enough workers.

Before the 24-hour news cycle, before the daily newspaper, every community had a weekly – and no breaking news. The news was broken the week before press time and wouldn’t arrive in the mailbox until two or three days after printing. High school sports often lead, no bleeding required. Some Eastern Washington communities still have a weekly and maintain those slow-news traditions.

Two men arrested on suspicion of murder after woman’s body found at north Spokane motel
Spokane police have arrested two men on suspicion they were involved in the murder of a woman whose body was found at a north Spokane motel on Friday. Lionel E. White, 32, of Yakima, was booked into the Spokane County Jail at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning, according to jail records. He is suspected of second-degree murder and drug possession. His bond has not been set by a judge. Anthony D. Fuerte, 27, of Spokane, was already in custody on suspicion of first-degree robbery and carjacking when police connected him to the case, according to police Sgt. Terry Preuninger. He is also suspected of second-degree murder and is being held on a $500,000 in the Spokane County carjacking case.
