What I Saw Treating the Victims From Parkland Should Change the Debate on Guns
They weren’t the first victims of a mass shooting the Florida radiologist had seen—but their wounds were radically different.

Seattle Residents Complained About A 'Confederate Flag.' It Was Actually The Flag Of Norway.
Over the weekend the Seattle Times jumped at a news tip: there was a Confederate flag flying beneath the American flag in the city's Greenwood neighborhood, and residents were very concerned. Only, it turns out, it wasn't the Confederate flag at all. It was the state flag of Norway, and a group of friendly Norwegians were just trying to show their patriotism and support for their Olympic Team when their very concerned neighbors contacted local media.

NRA head breaks silence to attack gun control advocates: 'They hate individual freedom'
The head of the powerful National Rifle Association (NRA) has broken his silence more than a week after the Florida school shooting with a vituperative attack on gun control advocates, accusing them of exploiting the tragedy to push their agenda. Wayne LaPierre, whose lobby group faces an unprecedented challenge from the activism of students, including survivors of the massacre, sought to paint his opponents as “elites” and “socialists” hellbent on undermining Americans’ constitutional rights.

Arrival of Beaker folk changed Britain for ever, ancient DNA study shows
The largest ever study on ancient DNA has shown that Britain was changed forever by the arrival of the Beaker folk, a wave of migrants about 4,500 years ago who brought with them new customs, new burial practices, and beautiful, distinctive bell-shaped pottery.

TAOISM, DUALISM, OR CHRISTIAN HOPE? REY’S BAPTISM IN THE LAST JEDI
In the deeper circles of Star Wars fandom, the phrase balance of the Force appears often, vaguely defined as a cross between a sort of Manichean dualism and a Taoist Yin-Yang. Light and Dark are equal and opposing entities, and they need each other to keep the universe together. The Taoist influence in Star Wars is undeniable, but Rey’s journey and this film as a whole look a lot more like Christian baptism, following a passage from life to death to new life, much like our watery journey with Christ through his crucifixion and resurrection.

Welcome to the age of the muzzle.
In Russia you cannot say that Putin is a dangerous scoundrel. The same, of course, applies to the rulers of many other non-countries. In Canada, I am told, you cannot say that homosexuality is unnatural. In Austria you cannot say that there was no Holocaust. Ditto in Germany.

WORLD-RENOWNED EVANGELIST REV. BILLY GRAHAM DIES AT 99
The Reverend Billy Graham, undoubtedly the world’s most famous evangelist of the 20th century, died in his sleep in his North Carolina home yesterday morning, reports ABC News. Rev. Graham had said in 2005, “Do I fear death? No. I look forward to death with great anticipation. I'm looking forward to seeing God face to face, and that could happen any day.” In 1984, he preached more than 50 times in Orthodox and Evangelical churches in Leningrad, Moscow, Tallinn, and Novosibirsk over the course of a 12-day trip. He returned to the Soviet Union four years later as an honorary guest of the Russian Orthodox Church for the millennial celebration of the Baptism of Rus’. In 1991, he spoke to 5,000 ministers of churches from the republics of the former USSR in Moscow at the School of Evangelism.

Arctic temperatures soar 45 degrees above normal, flooded by extremely mild air on all sides
While the Eastern United States simmers in some of its warmest February weather ever recorded, the Arctic is also stewing in temperatures more than 45 degrees above normal. This latest huge temperature spike in the Arctic is another striking indicator of its rapidly transforming climate. On Monday and Tuesday, the northernmost weather station in the world, Cape Morris Jesup at the northern tip of Greenland, experienced more than 24 hours of temperatures above freezing according to the Danish Meteorological Institute. “How weird is that?” tweeted Robert Rohde, a physicist and lead scientist at Berkeley Earth, a non-profit organization that conducts analyses of the Earth’s temperature. “Well it’s Arctic winter. The sun set in October and won’t be seen again until March. Perpetual night, but still above freezing.”
