Everything You Need to Know about the Clean Power Plan
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, nineteen other state attorneys general, and the head of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality recently filed a superb comment letter on the Environmental Protection Agency’s advance notice of proposed rulemaking entitled “State Guidelines for Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Existing Electric Utility Generating Units.” The notice requests information on a potential replacement rule for the so-called Clean Power Plan, which the Environmental Protection Agency plans to repeal. Morrisey et al. argue that the EPA should just repeal and not replace the Clean Power Plan with alternative carbon dioxide emission guidelines for existing power plants. The Obama-era Environmental Protection Agency promulgated the Clean Power Plan under section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act.

Murray Rothbard: Enemy of the State
Ludwig von Mises was the greatest economist and defender of liberty in the twentieth century. In scholarship and in passion for freedom, his rightful heir is Murray N. Rothbard. Rothbard was born in New York City in 1926. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, and studied for more than 10 years under Mises at New York University. However, his degree was delayed for years, and he came close to not receiving it at all, because of the unprecedented intervention of a faculty member.

Not Even the Pentagon Thinks Tariffs Are Needed for National Defense
When politicians run out of good arguments, their last refuge is often the claim that what they want is "necessary for national defense." Given that there are no economic arguments in favor of tariffs, it makes sense that the administration has resorted to the political "national defense" argument instead.

Gun Rights Don't Come from the Second Amendment
Whenever there is a gun massacre, statists inevitably respond that it’s time to repeal the Second Amendment. The idea is that if the Second Amendment is gone, so will be the right to own guns in the United States. There is just one big problem with that position: It’s wrong. The Second Amendment, like the First Amendment, doesn’t give anyone any rights. Instead, it prohibits the federal government from infringing on rights that are natural and God-given and that preexist government.

Sue Lani Madsen: Key to finding common ground is learning to argue without inflicting mortal wounds
No partisan camp is free of sanctimony or intellectual dishonesty. We readily convince ourselves that our criticism is accurate and our motives are pure, unlike those other people we don’t want to talk to and certainly don’t want to listen to, those political zealots of a different tribe we want to isolate in their own separate world. ... Building connections means taking the time to understand another’s perspective without denying your own. ... In other words, assume others mean well no matter how misguided or ill-informed their remarks sound to your ears. Be ready to explain your point of view, which will necessarily be different based on different life experiences and insights. Focus on sharing information. And remember to listen.
