As interesting as the work of Mr. Henry Ross Wiggs is for what it contains, it is also interesting for what it does not contain. He has no information on a possible fourth son of J. William Ross, David Alexander, who, according to a Drouin Collection record of his burial, having been "Chief Clerk Inspector Generals Department Quebec - died in Quebec on twentieth day of July A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty One - aged 52 years and was buried in Mount Hermon Cemetery on the twenty-second day of the same month and year." (that would place his birth in 1809.) According to the information I have at this time, he may have had 10 children, representing a fairly large branch of the Ross family. A quick check of the Dictionary of Canadian Biography does not list anyone in the first three generations of this account.

Update, 26 April 2011: I received an email this morning from a descendant of David Alexander, and with the information she provided found in the Drouin collection a record of the marriage which includes the signature of Sarah Ross, mother, as one of the witnesses. I am now confident to include this branch in the tree. Here is part of the email:
I am a descendent of David Alexander Ross and Caroline Elizabeth Blaiklock. David Alexander was a sibling to: Clarissa, Drummond, Eliza, Eleanore, William, Samuel and Clarke. I see you are working diligently on the family tree.
David A. Ross and Caroline Blaiklock had 9 children (I am am offspring of one of those, named David George Bartlett Ross. The connection is on my maternal grandmother's side.
David George Bartlett Ross married my great grandmother Blanche Louise Hastings. I have a few pictures as well.
I have a copy of Ross Wiggs extensive family tree sent to me upon my request in the mid-70s.
My mother, Anne Eastwood (Goldie) Land - granddaughter of David & Blanche is still living, and in good health at the age of 97 (this May 20th).

Some names are spelled differently from what appears in some of our online information: for example, Mr. Wiggs spells "Sheila" as "Shelagh".
Having spent most of my life in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, I was not familiar with the suffix, "Q.C." as used in connection with Francis Ward Primrose. I am told that "Q.C. here usually means Queen's Council, as in a lawyer. It also seems that they sometimes used "Esquire" which someone told me was probably someone in the legal business also." Thanks, Wendy.
"QC means Queens Counsel which is an honour still bestowed on lawyers who are recognized by their piers as having contributed significantly to the practice of law. Esquire is what any lawyer was called - interestingly also women lawyers." Thanks, Sue.
The name of the Judge who handled the probate of the will of J.William Ross caught my attention.
Oliver Perrault was married to Marie-Louise Taschereau, my 2nd great grand aunt, daughter of Glabriel-Elzear Taschereau, my 3rd great grandfather. Here is a link to the Dictionary of Canadian Biography on Oliver Perrault: http://www.biographi.ca/009004-119.01-e.php?&id_nbr=3067&interval=25&&PHPSESSID=9lb450q5c6tcmn0vitn1nt4eo5
The Feb. 23, 2011 post on THE ROSS FAMILY includes mention in one paragraph of a Ross Family Tree at the end of the book; however, that tree will not be published in this blog because (1) the format does not lend itself to this blog; (2) any other pertinent information contained therein will already have been included in the Family Charts; and (3) those particularly interested will already have that information available to them at Ancestry.com.
