She attended the Misses Henderson's School in Quebec City, and at the closing exercises on 15 June 1905 won the prizes for English, French, German, scripture, and the Conduct Medal.
She was the youngest and last surviving member of a family of thirteen, the eldest of whom was born in 1864.
