With elections quickly approaching, many Christians in India fear that incidents of persecution could become more frequent if the Hindu nationalist party BJP wins the majority. According to many election polls, BJP is currently leading and will likely take power in India following this election cycle. Linked to the Hindu nationalist movement, BJP has been connected to many incidents of violence against Christians and other religious minorities in India.
US Pastor Saeed Remains in Iranian Hospital, Instead of Prison
ICC Note: The latest report from Iran is that Pastor Saeed remains in a hospital room and has not been transferred back to the Rajai Shahr prison. This has been a welcome improvement and has allowed him to slowly begin recovering from the numerous injuries he has received in prison. He has been examined by doctors, but has not received a needed surgery to address internal injuries. There is hope that Saeed will be among the prisoners released as part of Iranian New Year celebrations.

ICC Note: For the first time, the United Nations Security Council has been called upon by the UN Human Rights Council to take action on the human rights atrocities being committed in North Korea. Among these numerous crimes is the complete restriction of religious freedom and the violent persecution of Christians, thousands of whom are believed to currently be imprisoned in political "death" camps.
