Republican chairwoman stresses voter turnout

Hutchison was the event's keynote speaker and shared her message with about 200 guests. There are now about 1.4 million unregistered voters in the state of Washington, and if even one-tenth of those unregistered became voters, they could easily impact the outcome of the upcoming elections, she said. Hutchison also said that Washington state is a swing state because it is the 13th largest electoral state.

Christian and Muslim Communities Work Together to Fight Terrorism in Kenya
In protest of recent mass arrests of Somali nationals living in Kenya, Christians and Muslims are working together to call on the national Kenyan government for greater national security and counter-terrorism intelligence efforts. Both the International Fellowship for Christ (IFC) and the Kenya National Muslim Advisory Council (KEMNAC) agree that constitutional protections of the right to freely worship must be protected in strengthening the nation's borders and in countering terrorist activity. Both have made the case that strong-armed actions by the Kenyan government in response to attacks, like a recent shooting at a church in Mombasa that left four dead and several others severely injured, could spur rather than quell religiously-motivated violence.
President Obama Must Act Now to Save Lives, Promote Religious Freedom
ICC Note: In this excellent review, author and vice president of Liberty University Johnnie Moore explains why it is so important for President Obama to immediately nominate a candidate to fill the empty position of Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom at the State Department. Lives do hang in the balance as the world, and especially areas of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, progressively grow hostile to members of minority religious communities.
U.S Supreme Court Declines to Hear Case of Fined Christian Photographer
ICC Note: In yet another alarming legal precedent for religious freedom in the United States, the U.S. Supreme Court has declined, without explanation, to hear the case of Elane Photography v. Willock. The case began after Elaine Huguenin politely declined a request to photograph a gay commitment ceremony in New Mexico based on her Christian beliefs. The State of New Mexico ruled that she had violated human rights legislation in the state and fined Elaine, essentially setting a precedent whereby Christian photographers in the United States will be forced to either photograph gay weddings or face steep penalties.
Long a Survivor in Syria, a Dutch Priest Is Slain
ICC Note: A Dutch priest who has spent decades living in Syria was shot dead in the city of Homs, Syria. Speculation is being raised from all sides about who was responsible for his killing. Some opposition activists have speculated that it was a radicalized Islamic fighter from those group that “no longer accept anyone but those who are like them.” Others have speculated that it was an agent of the Assad regime trying to send a message to any Christians of what happens if they are supportive towards the opposition. While the reason for his killing is uncertain, it is clear that the Syrian people lost a friend and servant who has shown them great love.
Islamist Mob Kills Coptic Christian Woman In Cairo
ICC Note: In one of the most recent outbreaks of violence against Christians, a 24-year-old Coptic girl was brutally killed when she was pulled from her car by protestors who were fighting with security forces. Based on first-hand accounts, Mary Sameh George was killed because of the cross hanging on her car. Christians have increasingly been the victims of violent attacks across Egypt over the past year.
Syria’s Latest Battle: The PR Fight Over Sanctuary For Christians
ICC Note: When rebels took control of the Christian town of Kessab that had long been controlled by the Assad regime, the town’s 2000+ residents fled the area. This again stoked fears that Christians would be targeted as they have repeatedly by Islamic extremist groups throughout the more than three years of conflict. A public relations war is being waged, and again, as in the physical conflict, Christians are caught in the middle.
Human Rights Commissioner Confirms Unprovoked Massacre
The UN Office of the High Commissioner on Human rights (OHCHR) has officially confirmed Chadian forces fired indiscriminately in an unprovoked attack on unarmed innocents Saturday, killing at least 30 and injuring more than 300 in a predominantly Christian neighborhood of the Central African Republic's capital city of Bangui. Currently withdrawing from peacekeeping operations in the CAR, ICC and the international community look to call for a full investigation into the motives of the attack and legal retribution for those responsible for the bloodshed.
Pakistani Christian Couple Sentenced to Death for Blasphemy Plan Appeal
A Pakistani Christian couple sentenced to death last week for blasphemy are planning to appeal their death sentences. The couple was accused of sending blasphemous text messages from a SIM card registered to their names. The couple claims the phone containing the card in question was lost prior to the texts being sent and claim the judgment against them was influenced illegally. Please pray for these two Christians as they suffer under Pakistan's controversial blasphemy law.
Almost 1,000 Pakistani Christian Women Forcibly Converted to Islam Each Year
According to a new report released by Movement for Solidarity and Peace, around 1,000 Christian and other religious minority women are forcefully converted to Islam and married to Muslim men every year. In most cases, these women are abducted from their homes, forced to convert to Islam by signing a paper in front of an Imam under threat and then married to a Muslim man and raped. The legal system in Pakistan has been cited as a major contributor to this issue because the women who are forcefully converted and married generally are forced to stay in the custody of their abductors throughout the trial, subjecting them to torture, rape and pressure to drop the case. Please take time to pray for Christian women in Pakistan today.

Processing new information during sleep compromises memory
New research highlights the important role sleep plays in strengthening and maintaining the accuracy of a memory and hints at why the brain shuts out sensory information during periods of deep sleep. The study found that introducing new odor information to an animal while it sleeps compromises its ability to remember the difference between new and previously encountered smells while awake.
Lipid levels during prenatal brain development impact autism, study shows
Abnormal levels of lipid molecules in the brain can affect the interaction between two key neural pathways in early prenatal brain development, which can trigger autism, researchers have found in a groundbreaking study. And, environmental causes such as exposure to chemicals in some cosmetics and common over-the-counter medication can affect the levels of these lipids, according to the researchers.
Language structure: You're born with it
Humans are unique in their ability to acquire language. But how? A new study shows that we are in fact born with the basic fundamental knowledge of language, thus shedding light on the age-old linguistic 'nature vs. nurture' debate.
Surprising truth about obsessive-compulsive thinking
People who check whether their hands are clean or imagine their house might be on fire are not alone. New global research shows that 94 percent of people experience unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images and/or impulses. The study people on six continents, and found that the thoughts, images and impulses symptomatic of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) are widespread.
Living organ regenerated for first time: Thymus rebuilt in mice
Scientists have succeeded in regenerating a living organ for the first time. Researchers rebuilt the thymus -- an organ in the body located next to the heart that produces important immune cells. The advance could pave the way for new therapies for people with damaged immune systems and genetic conditions that affect thymus development. The team reactivated a natural mechanism that shuts down with age to rejuvenate the thymus in very old mice. After treatment, the regenerated organ had a similar structure to that found in a young mouse.
DNA modifications measured in blood signal related changes in the brain
Researchers say they have confirmed suspicions that DNA modifications found in the blood of mice exposed to high levels of stress hormone — and showing signs of anxiety — are directly related to changes found in their brain tissues. Scientists say this research offers the first evidence that epigenetic changes that alter the way genes function without changing their underlying DNA sequence -- and are detectable in blood -- mirror alterations in brain tissue linked to underlying psychiatric diseases.
How coughs and sneezes float much farther than you think
The next time you feel a sneeze coming on, raise your elbow to cover up that multiphase turbulent buoyant cloud you're about to expel. It turns out that smaller droplets that emerge in a cough or sneeze may travel five to 200 times further than they would if those droplets simply moved as groups of unconnected particles -- which is what previous estimates had assumed.
Humans and Neandertals interbred, new method confirms
Technical objections to the idea that Neandertals interbred with the ancestors of Eurasians have been overcome, thanks to a new genome analysis method. The technique can more confidently detect the genetic signatures of interbreeding than previous approaches and will be useful for evolutionary studies of other ancient or rare DNA samples.
Antimicrobial from soaps promotes bacteria buildup in human noses
An antimicrobial agent found in common household soaps, shampoos and toothpastes may be finding its way inside human noses where it promotes the colonization of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and could predispose some people to infection.
Patients with paraplegia regain voluntary movement after spinal stimulation
Four people with paraplegia are able to voluntarily move previously paralyzed muscles as a result of a novel therapy involving electrical stimulation of the spinal cord, according to a new study. All four participants were classified with a chronic motor complete spinal cord injury and were unable to move their lower extremities prior to the implantation of an epidural stimulator.
Saturn's hexagon: An amazing phenomenon
An unusual structure with a hexagonal shape surrounding Saturn's north pole was spotted on the planet for the first time thirty years ago. Nothing similar with such a regular geometry had ever been seen on any planet in the solar system. Astronomers have now been able to study and measure the phenomenon and, among other achievements, establish its rotation period. What is more, this period could be the same as that of the planet itself. Saturn is the only planet in the solar system whose rotation time remains unknown.

RAND Study: Only 36% of Obamacare Enrollees Were Previously Uninsured
A study released Tuesday by the non-profit RAND Corporation found that only 3.9 million people have enrolled in the Obamacare exchanges--a much smaller number than the 7 million sign-ups touted by the Obama administration. The study also found that people gaining employer-provided insurance was the biggest reason why the uninsured rate has dropped in recent months. Of those who were previously uninsured but are now insured, 7.2 million gained [employer-sponsored insurance], 3.6 million are now covered by Medicaid, 1.4 million signed up through the marketplaces, and the remainder gained coverage through other sources.
