The Bullies’ America
They were once high principles in the pursuit of e pluribus unum. Now equality, diversity, and tolerance are used to destroy, compel and silence. This week’s purge of a tech company CEO who privately expressed a contrary viewpoint on marriage is just the latest example of tactics that eschew reason and embrace bullying. The bullies’ vision of America is alarming to behold, with the values of peaceful coexistence turned on their head:

How Environmentalists Are Killing Jobs

Iran’s New U.N. Ambassador Exploited American Hostages
While posing as a friendly and pragmatic reformer, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has stuck a finger in the eye of Washington by appointing a diplomat who participated in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran as Iran’s next representative to the United Nations. How can a regime that continues to celebrate the illegal seizure of an embassy—a terrorist act that violated Iran’s diplomatic obligations—be trusted?

Second Circuit Rules Against Religious Freedom of NYC Churches
In the latest episode of a nearly 20-year legal battle for religious freedom in New York City, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday upheld the Board of Education of the City of New York’s refusal to provide permits to use public school space for worship services after hours and on the weekends.

China: Thousands of Christians Form Human Shield to Protect Church from Destruction
Showdown Imminent After Officials Post Demolition Notices
International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that thousands of Christians have formed a human shield around a newly-constructed church in Zhejiang Province after authorities earlier this week threatened to demolish the building. The Sanjiang Christian Church reportedly cost over $4.8 million to construct and was built over a six-year period in Wenzhou, one of China’s most Christianized cities.

Gangs Seize Empty Baghdad Christian’s Homes As Iraq Violence Worsens
ICC Note: Over the last decade, hundreds of thousands of Christians have left the violence in Baghdad. Many of them left without selling their homes, hoping to one day return. Now, many of them have seen those homes taken by gangs. The courts have shown little assistance in getting the properties recovered and Christians fear that if they press the claims they will simply be putting a target on their back for kidnappings or other forms of violence.

Happy New Year, for Iran’s Christians?
ICC Note: As Iran celebrates its New Year, the situation for the country’s Christians continues to deteriorate. Based on the latest report from the United Nations, at least 49 Christians are imprisoned and face sentences between one and 10 years for their faith. Christianity is labeled by those in the regime as a threat to national security.

Chinese Christians Worship on Street During Major Police Crackdown
ICC Note: Police in Central China's Henan Province came out in force on Wednesday to stop Christians from attending an annual service at the Nanle County Christian Church. Police blocked buses attempting to enter the city for the service and set up a blockade in front of the church building, attempting to bar members from entering. Some members that made it into the building were later trapped as those outside were ordered to disburse by police. A group of Christians then simply began to worship on the street. One Christian reported: “There was no way we could hold a normal gathering. We had to worship the Lord at the gate. There, we sang hymns and worshipped. After the authorities grabbed our musical instruments, we praised God with our hands.”

US Judge Rules After-Hour Worship Services Can Be Banned From Public School Facilities
ICC Note: In what is perhaps a landmark ruling, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Thursday that a New York City regulation banning religious worship services from taking place after-hours on public school property was constitutional. The ruling overturned a previous ruling against the ban by a U.S. district judge and is part of a twenty year battle over religious rights. The upholding of the ban in New York City sets a dangerous legal precedent for cities and other levels of government wanting to ban religious services from their facilities, even after-hours, in the United States.

Meteorite Appears to Nearly Hit Skydiver During Jump
An amazing new video posted to YouTube this week purports to show a meteorite hurtling dangerously close to a skydiver in Norway. The astounding improbability of this close encounter warrants skepticism, but if the video is a hoax, it's a pretty good one, said Bill Cooke, NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
