So Let It Be Written. So Let It Be Made: Why We Need More Biblical Films
Every decade or so, Hollywood has an epiphany. It turns out faith-based audiences enjoy going to the movies, too. And they enjoy films with A-list actors and big-budget productions, as well. So it’s no surprise that “Noah,” even with the artistic license and rock monsters, had such an impressive week.

Killed Because of the Cross: The Death of an Egyptian Christian
It was a Friday afternoon on March 28 when Mary Sameh George was doing what she does every Friday. After leaving her job at a communications company, she drove to Ain Shams neighborhood in Cairo, to deliver food and medicine to elderly Christians and Muslims. “I called Mary by my mobile and she was very happy on this day,” Khalil*, a friend of Mary’s, told ICC. “She told me that she sold many SIM-cards and then she was driving out to visit the elderly needy and sick people in Ezbet El Nakhl,” he continued. “I asked her to take care and we finished the call. This was the last time that Khalil spoke to Mary, a 24-year-old, with a bachelor’s degree in Law from Ain Shams University, who was planning to be engaged in May. Two hours later, Khalil saw on television that a Christian girl was among four people killed by protestors in Ain Shams. Mary was that Christian girl.

Boko-Haram Foribly Recruiting Nigerian Youths
Recent reports have confirmed suspicions long-held by members of the international community, including ICC, of the forced recruitment of Nigerian youths by radical Islamic insurgency, Boko-Haram. ICC strongly condemns this forced recruitment and Boko-Haram's continued oppression of innocents. Christians remain daily targets, subject to escalating levels of destruction and violence. In March alone, twenty churches were destroyed and more than 100 believers were murdered by Boko-Haram adherents and affiliates. Continue to keep the believers and peoples of Nigeria in your prayers to call on the Lord for peace throughout the west African nation.

An Egyptian Jew’s Message To Threatened Middle East Christians
One of just 14 Jews remaining in Egypt, Magda Haroun had a message for Coptic Pope Tawadros, and the leaders of Middle Eastern churches facing persecution. “Don’t let your people leave. Do all that you can so that you do not become as we are,” she told the leader of the largest Christian minority in the Middle East. The intense violence is driving many to leave, but there are many working to help the church continue on.

Iranian Christian Goes on Hunger Strike in Prison Despite Ongoing Pain
An Iranian Christian who is facing intense physical challenges is staging a hunger strike in an attempt to get prison officials to provide him the treatment he needs. Vahid Hakkani was arrested in February 2012 and sentenced to three years and eight months for attending house church meetings. Vahid’s situation highlights the abuse often suffered in Iranian prisons.

Ukrainian Orthodox Church Highly Concerned Over Future in Crimea
The Russian annexation of the Crimea has not only captured world headlines over the past month, it has also led to dangerous consequences for many of the Christians living in the Crimean Peninsula. First among those are believers in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. In March, reports emerged that Russian forces had ordered Catholic clergy to abandon their churches and flee to mainland Ukraine. The Church refused, and several priests were detained. Now the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, one of three branches of the Orthodox Church in the Ukraine, fears that under Russian rule the Russian Orthodox Church may reign supreme.

Vietnamese Authorities Seize Christian Homes, Expel Families
The Vietnamese government, ruled by the Communist Party of Vietnam, remains highly hostile towards Christians and Christianity in general. Christians in some areas face regular discrimination, harassment, and even arrest at the hands of authorities. Many churches are forced to operate illegally, and 600 Protestant churches have been denied registration since the reform of the countries religious registration system in 2005. Catholics also face regular pressure from authorities, especially over land rights. in Con Dau, local authorities have been waging a six-year campaign to remove Catholics from their property in order to construct a luxury resort.

Court Acquits Buddhist Monk Accused of Church Attack in Sri Lanka
A Buddhist monk connected to the radical Buddhist nationalist group BBS was found not guilty and set free by a High Court in Sri Lanka. The monk was accused of leading an attack on Cavalry church 6 years ago. Anti-Christian violence continues to rise in Sri Lanka as Buddhist nationalists seek to protect the island nation's Buddhist identity through violence and discrimination. With the government unwilling to bring the perpetrators of religiously motivated violence to justice, attacks on Christians have increased in number and intensity in recent years.

Does a junk food diet make you lazy? Psychology study offers answer
A new psychology study provides evidence that being overweight makes people tired and sedentary, rather than vice versa. Life scientists placed 32 female rats on one of two diets for six months. The first, a standard rat's diet, consisted of relatively unprocessed foods like ground corn and fish meal. The ingredients in the second were highly processed, of lower quality and included substantially more sugar -- a proxy for a junk food diet.
