Trump's Wiretap Tweets Raise Risk of Impeachment
The sitting president has accused his predecessor of an act that could have gotten the past president impeached. That’s not your ordinary exercise of free speech. If the accusation were true, and President Barack Obama ordered a warrantless wiretap of Donald Trump during the campaign, the scandal would be of Watergate-level proportions. But if the allegation is not true and is unsupported by evidence, that too should be a scandal on a major scale. This is the kind of accusation that, taken as part of a broader course of conduct, could get the current president impeached.

The Durbin Amendment, introduced at the last minute of passage of the Dodd-Frank Act, has nothing to do with the financial crisis, which Dodd-Frank was supposed to be about. It introduced an unwarranted price control on the fees banks can charge merchants for customers using bank debit cards to buy goods and services. The Durbin Amendment proved disastrous for many American consumers, which is why Congress should repeal it in the Financial CHOICE Act.

We must recognize that the only justice that can be “for all” involves the defense of negative rights—prohibitions laid out against others (especially the government) to prevent unwanted intrusions. We do not have a right to be given things, and only the justice of negative rights can be reconciled with liberty “for all.” That is why negative rights are what the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were meant to protect. But those foundational freedoms have been, and continue to be, eroded by the ongoing search to “discover” (i.e., invent) ever-more positive rights. There is no way to square coercive “social justice” with “liberty and justice for all.”

[Information from this site may not be reliable.]Instead of praising jobs for their own sake, we should ask why employment is so important. The answer is, because we exist amidst economic scarcity and must work to live and prosper. That's why we should be of good cheer only when we learn that this employment will produce things people actually value, i.e., are willing to buy with their own hard, earned money. And this is something that can only be done in the free market, not by bureaucrats and politicians.
