What Children Reveal About Human Nature
One of my pet theories is that children reveal the true nature of man.  They have the same emotions as adults; they're just terrible at hiding them.  Even when their emotions are monstrous, kids either just blurt out whatever they're thinking, or bend the truth so blatantly that you know exactly what they have in mind. When a child doesn't follow through on a promise to "never do it again," it's because of Social Desirability Bias, not because they lack self-control. Kids say stuff that sounds good to avoid negative consequences. In other words, they're acting just like adults, minus the subtlety.

Charity Is Not How We Solve Poverty
If giving to a charity empowers a vicious gang or government that keeps people poor, you’ve just made poor people’s lives worse. Extreme poverty is falling around the world, mostly because governments have chosen to let their people join the global marketplace. The biggest reductions in poverty have happened in China, where post-1980 market reforms have raised 680 million people out of poverty. One of the most important things we can do to better the lives of the poor is to fight for their access to property rights and to global markets.

Rand Paul: We’re very lucky John McCain’s not in charge
Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) ripped fellow Republican Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) on Sunday after McCain criticized President Trump’s escalating war of words with the media. He argued that the nation is “very lucky” that Trump is president and not McCain, who won the 2008 GOP nomination but lost to Barack Obama in the general election. Paul said that McCain’s recent criticisms of Trump are driven by his “personal dispute” with the president over foreign policy.

Liberal Site Asks Readers for Obamacare Success Stories, Gets an Earful
If you’re looking to hear an Obamacare success story, you’re more likely to hear it out of a politician’s mouth than from anyone who is actually enrolled in the failed healthcare takeover. The site Vox asked people to send their stories on how Obamacare impacted their lives. They shared a story from a reader who was fortunate enough to still be on her parent’s insurance when she was diagnosed with cancer, because Obamacare allowed her to stay on that program until she was 26. This of course is a prevision of Obamacare that Trump wants to keep, so it’s not like had she been diagnosed after an Obamacare repeal, she’d be dead. Anyway, that turned out to be about the only success story among them.
