Pregnant Mother in Sudan Faces 100 Lashings and Death for Christian Conversion
ICC Note: Meriam Ibrahim, a Christian mother pregnant with her second child, has been detained in a Sudanese prison since February and now faces a death sentence for her conversion from Islam to Christianity. Considered a Muslim from birth, Ibrahim's marriage to a South Sudanese Christian is not legally recognized in her home city of Khartoum, Sudan. As the marriage is not considered legal according to the city's Public Order laws (which are heavily influenced by Sharia), Ibrahim's loving and faithful relationship to her husband is seen as adulterous and punishable by 100 lashes. Eight months into her pregnancy, rights workers defending Ibrahim in court fear officials will carry out both the lashing and execution shortly after the birth of unborn baby next month. In the meantime, rights workers continue to call on Sudanese authorities to grant Ibrahim proper prenatal medical care to ensure the life of her unborn child. Please join ICC in praying for Ibrahim, her children, her husband, and the nation of Sudan in this dark time.

Egypt’s Minya Province Flashpoint for Muslim-Christian Violence
ICC Note: The past nine months have been among the worst for attacks on Christians in Egypt. The Minya province has been at the center of many of these attacks. From attacks on churches and vandalized houses, to kidnappings and killings, Minya has seen tensions between the Christians and Muslim communities remain extremely tense. Religious leaders have sought to bring about reconciliation and have seen some successes, but the attacks still continue.
Christians Face ‘Disaster’ In Iraq
ICC Note: Iraq’s Christian community is just a shadow of what it used to be, having decreased from about 1.5 million to less than 400,000. “If the situation continues along this course, our numbers in the coming 10 years will be not more than a few thousand,” Chaldean Patriarch Louis Sako said. The reasons behind the decrease are numerous from specific targeting by religious extremists, confiscated property, death threats, general violence in the country and migration to the West.
Vow of Freedom of Religion Goes Unkept in Egypt
ICC Note: One of the reasons behind the removal of the Islamist regime in Egypt was the increasing hostility and repression being suffered by the country’s religious minorities. The new leadership made promises that greater religious freedoms would be implemented, but this has not been the reality. The violent attacks, largely on the Christian community have actually increased. Christians have been seen as a soft target and complicit in the loss of power for the Muslim Brotherhood. The security forces have been largely unable or unwilling to prevent the attacks on churches, shops, and kidnappings that have targeted Christians.
Nigerians Continue to Call for Prayer for Abducted Girls’ Safe Return
ICC Note: Following the abduction of 243 girls from the Chibok secondary school by members of Boko Haram, more than 230 are reported still missing. As a search party composed of vigilantes, the abducted girls' parents, and over 100 hire motorcyclists continues in the Sambisa forest (a Boko Haram entrenchment), leaders throughout the nation, both spiritual and political, are calling for mass prayers in request of the girls' safe return.
Attacks on Christians Spike as Hindu Nationalists Set to Take Control of India
The Christian minority of India is very concerned about their future in India. The reason for this concern… exit poll predictions from India’s general elections. Currently, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) looks set to form the next national government of India. At the center of the NDA is Narendra Modi, the chief minister of Gujarat and likely nominee as India’s next Prime Minister, and his Hindu nationalist party BJP. Christians are distressed knowing BJP’s Hindu nationalist agenda; an ideology that seeks to create a purely Hindu India.
Pastor Headed Back to Court in China on Trumped Up Charges
ICC Note: Pastor Zhang Shaojie will be heading back to court this Friday, April 29th, on charges of fraud and "gathering a crowd to disturb public order.' The Pastor and more than 20 of his congregation were arrested back in November in Henan Province. The church has since faced constant harassment by authorities and Pastor Zhang's lawyers were detained before being threatened with losing their law licenses for defending the pastor.
Sri Lanka Launches Police Team to Deal with Religious Disputes
ICC Note: In recent years, the island nation of Sri Lanka has seen steady increases in Christian persecution. Each year for the past two years, Christians and their places of worship have been attacked over 100 times. In 2014 alone, 40 churches have already been attacked. The driving force behind these attacks is Buddhist nationalism, a strain of radical Buddhist thought that seeks to preserve Sri Lanka's Buddhist heritage by force. Mobs led by radical Buddhist monks are often the culprits behind church attacks and the government so far has only turned blind eyes to the suffering of Christians. On Monday, the Sri Lankan government announced the launch of a new police unit that will specifically be charged with dealing with religious disputes. Will this help reduce attacks on Christians or is this just a symbolic gesture to get Christians to be silent?
Rising Islamic Radicalism Sparks Concern Among Malaysian Christians
ICC Note: For the past several years ICC and other groups have monitored the steady growth of radical Islamic ideology in Malaysia. While overt persecution of Christians remains a relatively uncommon occurrence, ongoing disputes over the use of the Arabic word for God, 'Allah,' led to attacks on churches in 2010 and the arrest of the president of the Bible Society of Malaysia earlier this year. One hard-line group has now publicly called human rights "godless" and "faithless" ideologies, saying they are part of conspiracy by Jewish and Christian groups.
Rape of Christian Child in Pakistan Swept Aside by Government Authorities
ICC Note: Christians in Pakistan are often treated like second-class citizens by both the country's Muslim majority population and government. According to reports in Pakistan, a 8-year-old Christian girl was raped by three Muslim men in the province of Punjab. Local authorities attempted to silence the victim's family by pressuring them into not filing a case against the girl's attackers. Fortunately, the media got involved after the Christian community staged a sit-in at the police station demanding justice for the little girl. Please pray for justice and the wellbeing of the 8-year-old girl.

Flexible battery, no lithium required: Lab creates thin-film battery for portable, wearable electronics
Scientists have created a thin, flexible film that combines the best qualities of batteries and supercapacitors. Chemists developed a flexible material with nanoporous nickel-fluoride electrodes layered around a solid electrolyte to deliver battery-like supercapacitor performance that combines the best qualities of a high-energy battery and a high-powered supercapacitor without the lithium found in commercial batteries today.

Did China Really Buy the State of Idaho?
Did you know that China is buying the state of Idaho? Or at least a huge chunk of the state of Idaho. For what purpose? Why, to build a 50 square mile self-sustaining industrial city south of Boise, as part of a mysterious joint Chinese/American plan called Project 60, of course. According to the conspiracy theory that’s developed around this, the “self-sustaining city” is just one part of a “soft invasion” of the United States. The conspiracy’s transformation from economics blurb to “OMG THE CHINESE ARE COMING!!!” was tracked to a May 31, 2011 blog post by one Bill Turner, of the Boise Conservative Examiner. Don’t let the name fool you, this isn’t a newspaper – it’s a blog linked to examiner.com, which, like many other clogosphere “news sources,” will let anyone post anything without the slightest vetting.

The Middle East Problem
The Middle East conflict is framed as one of the most complex problems in the world. But, in reality, it's very simple. Israelis want to live in peace and are willing to accept a neighboring Palestinian state. And most Palestinians do not want Israel to exist. As Dennis Prager explains, this is really all you need to know. In 5 minutes, understand how Israel was founded, and how, since that auspicious day in 1948, its neighbors have tried to destroy it, again and again.
