President Roosevelt, Aug. 4, 1934:

FDR exiting the Tuttle Ferry
From a Tuttle scrapbook that has original photos in it and quite a few of Miss Coulee, which he built. This photo is President Roosevelt when he visited Aug, 4, 1934 and crossed the Columbia on a ferry. This has Chief on the ferry.

FDR also visited the Dam in October 1937

From his official car, President Franklin Roosevelt inspects the dam in October 1937. He is on the far side in the back seat. With him are U. S. Reclamation Engineer Frank Banks, center, and Sentor Louis Schuellenbach.

  1. Wonderful photos. I am a Roosevelt historian/collector and am now writing a book on his 1937 trip. Are those photos yours? Who took them? May want to use one or two of them in my book. Thank you. Scott Larsen, New Westminster, BC

    1. The prints are in one of several scrapbooks my mother made during the '30's. Who took the pictures I do not know, and I know of no one still living who might know.

    3. These pictures are from 1934, and are similar, though not as good, as those published in area newspapers at the time. As to use in your book, I have no problem. Any standard citation will suffice.
