     There is much uncertainty as to the connection between my 5th great grandfather, James Seaton, who married Elizabeth Kenner, granddaughter of Col. George Eskridge, and the Setons of Scotland.  In this post I am placing links to a number of sites I have found which may or may not be helpful in this regard.

Ancestry.com records has considerable information on the line going back from my great grandfather Thomas Brownfield Seaton to Francis Seaton, but appears to be uncertain before that.

    A great quantity of information may be found in THE SEATON FAMILY WITH GENEALOGY AND BIOGRAPHIES  BY  OREN ANDREW SEATON, EDITOR., 1906, Topeka, Kansas, Crane & Company.  A James Carmichael Seaton is mentioned on p. 319, but the information in the book somewhat sketchy.  It has very little on other members of my line.  The complete text is on line at:      http://www.archive.org/details/seatonfamilywit00seatgoog

A GENEALOGY OF THE SEATON FAMILY
The writer of this has a letter written by William Winston Seaton, dated March 15th, 1958, in which he says his great grandfather Henry Seaton came to Virginia about 1696.
