For the big technology firms, the midterm elections were never going to change much.  Whatever the result, they were going to face more scrutiny over the next year. The only difference is in what sort of scrutiny. If anything, the split in control of the chambers presents the worst of both worlds.

San Francisco Just Passed the Largest Tax Increase in City History. It's Anybody's Guess if It's Legal.
On Tuesday, some 60 percent of Bay City residents voted in favor of Proposition C, a ballot initiative that would raise an estimated $300 million a year for housing, mental health treatment, and other services for the city's 7,500 homeless residents through a hike in the city's business gross receipts tax. That's a huge amount of new revenue, increasing the take from the city's current business taxes by some 33 percent, and nearly doubling the $380 million the city currently spends on the homeless. Because it's a gross receipts tax, it would tax companies' total revenue, regardless of how profitable they are.

The White House is saying “bye, bye, bye” to CNN’s Jim Acosta as they have officially revoked his press credentials. Acosta is no longer permitted to enter events or press conferences and report official statements of the administration or ask questions of White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The decision to revoke his credentials followed an incident where Acosta physically resisted a White House intern, who was a woman.

Fiber install nearly complete in Omak, continues to Coulee Dam
The director of the Colville Tribes’ Centralized Services’ division, Pat Tonasket, provided an update on the current fiber installation to the Colville Business Council’s Management and Budget Committee, Wednesday. A Colville Tribal IT crew is expected to light up the fiber in Omak, Dec. 26, and in Coulee Dam, Jan. 21.
