Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has offered a word of thanks to “everyone who fought for and supported the creation of the Autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” praising the Ukrainian victory of good over evil, over the “Moscow demons.”

His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, the chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has commented on the sad developments in the ongoing Ukrainian ecclesiastical crisis, in particular on the announcement of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople following its session yesterday. In particular, he laments that the Ecumenical Patriarchate did not heed the call of its fellow Orthodox Synods and hierarchs to convene a pan-Orthodox Council to discuss the Ukrainian issue, and that the status of the non-canonical Kiev Patriarchate (KP) and Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC) remains unclear.

UKRAINIAN CHURCH WON’T PARTICIPATE IN COUNCIL FOR UNIFICATION OF NON-CANONICAL CHURCHES
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the guidance of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine will not participate in the council for the unification of churches being planned by the non-canonical churches in Ukraine. Following the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s announcement yesterday that it was restoring the schismatic Kiev Patriarchate and Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church to communion with itself and continuing the process of granting autocephaly, the non-canonical churches called for the preparation of a unification council which will decide who will head the new church.

PRIMATE OF CHURCH OF CZECH LANDS AND SLOVAKIA EXPRESSES POSITION ON EVENTS IN UKRAINE
On October 11, 2018, in his letter to His Holiness Patriarch of Kirill and All Russia, His Beatitude Metropolitan Rostislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia assured him of his unwavering position in regard to the ongoing gross interference of the state authorities in the internal life of the Church in Ukraine.
