William Walker: Diver who saved Winchester Cathedral remembered
A diver whose work saved Winchester Cathedral more than a century ago has been remembered at a commemoration service 100 years after his death. William Walker carried out repairs on the foundations of the cathedral to stop it from sinking into the ground. He had to descend into the murky water of 235 pits, each about 6m (20ft) deep, to dig out rotten foundations and shore up the walls with concrete. Mr Walker worked from 1906 until 1911, spending nearly six hours a day underwater, in darkness, working with his bare hands and entirely by touch. Eventually he propped the cathedral up with 900,000 bricks, 114,900 concrete blocks and 25,800 bags of cement. Known as 'Diver Bill', Mr Walker died aged 49 during the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918.

“No taxation without representation!” That was a popular phrase during the decades leading up to the Revolutionary War. Colonists thought it was unfair to be taxed and subjected to English rule without consent. Today Washington DC hands down laws and taxes to every one of the 320 million people living in the United States. And just like under English rule, we are not represented in the federal government.

Trump Takes Kavanaugh Victory Lap During Topeka MAGA Rally
A jubilant President Donald Trump joined a packed house of supporters in Topeka’s Kansas Expo Center Saturday evening to celebrate the Senate’s 50-48 vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh as the newest associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. “This is a truly historic night. I stand before you on the heels of a tremendous victory for our nation, our people and our beloved constitution,” the president said in his opening remarks, noting that Kavanaugh had been sworn in and is now officially Justice Brett Kavanaugh. "The Democrats have become too dangerous to govern. Republicans believe in the rule of law, not the rule of the mob.”

Victory! Senate Approves Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court
Eighty-nine long days elapsed from the July 9 moment of President Donald Trump’s announcement of his nomination to the moment Saturday when the Senate voted 50-48 to confirm him. Judge Brett Kavanaugh will now become the newest associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, as soon as he is sworn in. Kavanaugh will actually take two oaths. The first will be administered by a current member of the court, with the second public and ceremonial swearing in also done by a justice, but with Trump to deliver congratulatory remarks. The latter reportedly will happen Monday or Tuesday.

ANTIOCHIAN HOLY SYNOD REBUKES CONSTANTINOPLE'S UNILATERAL ACTIONS, STRESSES NEED FOR PAN-ORTHODOX SYNAXIS
The Holy Synod of the Church of Antioch finished its latest session today, and has released a statement in regard to the ongoing crisis situation in Ukraine caused by the Ecumenical Patriarchate's unilateral incursrion into the canonical territory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the intent of unilaterally granting autocephaly to Ukrainian schismatics. His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East has previously expressed his support for the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Moscow Patriarchate. After meeting with the Patriarch in June, Russian State Deputy Dmitry Sablin reported that, “The Patriarch noted that the Antiochian Church stands together with the Russian Church, speaking against the Church schism in Ukraine.”

AN OVERVIEW OF ORTHODOXY IN UKRAINE. PART 1
The old maxim that “history is written by the victors” always puts us on our guard when trying to make sense of the past in order to make sense of the present. But this maxim only serves to further smudge the edges of real history, because history is not how modern people see the past, but how the people of a given time period saw themselves and those around them. This is especially important to remember in the current age of lightning-fast information exchange, with its unprecedented potential for an ongoing revision of history. As seekers of truth, Christians have to make every effort to understand history with all its nuances and hard facts, so that we might think twice or thrice before joining whatever ill-conceived crusade may be afoot at a given time.

Tyler Brown gave a good answer regarding the crying (it would be more accurate to say he was near tears) and yelling (he raised his voice but I’m not sure I would call it yelling). If someone accused you of being a mass gang rapist 30 odd years ago (without a single shred of evidence or corroboration) would you be emotionless and unattached? However I don’t think Tyler addressed the “defensiveness.” It’s something you see a lot of MSM articles on. “Brett Kavanaugh dodges questions; what this says about his guilt.” And of course dodging questions during a hearing regarding serious allegations like this is bad, so some people naturally start to question his veracity. That hearing had nothing to do with Kavanaugh’s suitability for the Supreme Court. He was there to be a sandbag for the toxic rhetoric of the Democratic senators. And sandbags have no choice but to be defensive.
