As the sun set on a second day of voting across Egypt, more than 20 million Egyptians were believed to have gone to the polls to vote on a new constitution. The answer was a resounding yes, with more than 97% voting in favor of the new charter. The voter turnout was more than four million higher than the vote 13 months earlier. The country’s Christian community largely was supportive of the document that provides a basis for greater rights protecting Christians and other minorities and strengthening basic human rights.

In yet another incident of anti-Christian sentiment being expressed in the U.S. public school system, a 1st-grader in Southern California was recently ordered to halt giving a Christmas presentation as soon as she began to recite John 3:16. The student, Brynn Williams, was the told to return to her seat and was the only one in the class not allowed to finish her presentation. In a meeting with civil liberty advocates after the incident, the school principal defended the teachers actions, saying " ‘Brynn can write about her beliefs in her journal, in her class work and on her homework, but she is not allowed to share her beliefs aloud to other students.'"
