Conor Jorgensen: Main street Coulee City in what I believe is the 1920s? The "Coulee Bank" pictured is where Wagoners was and where the Steamboat Rock Restaurant is today. I also noticed the "gasoline" sign - never knew there was a gas station where the bar is now.

Conor Jorgensen: I'm not exactly sure what's going on here, but I thought it was neat seeing Wagoners building in the background. Never knew what it looked like until now.

Conor Jorgensen: Looking down the north side of Main Street toward the east from Neihart Drugstore. I've been trying to figure out what the building is that has the sign sticking out that says, "R.F. & L Office".

Judy P Paap: Chap in picture is a Uncle of John Michael Joplin and Judy P Joplin and sister Carol Joplin Clapshaw. Chappie was married to Carolyn Webb (our aunt) from Creston at that time. Uncle Chappie I understand spent most of his time in the Joplin home thru out high school years.

Conor Jorgensen: Harold and Virginia, your mother is in this picture. I believe she's in the back left corner under the clock.
Judy P. Paap: Though she was a second cousin I always thought of Margaret Evans as Aunt Margaret and she was the sweetest summer time Mom any one could ask for. Brother John Michael went there one summer got the mumps and stayed for weeks! Before TV of course and they had a running, on going game of monopoly thru half the summer.
Virginia Carey: Yes, that is mom. She continued to play the violin throughout her life. As Judy said above, she was a wonderful mother and gathered up friends and family.

Conor Jorgensen: The group of "people" pictured is the Flora Dora Chorus group. Left to right: Clarence Davis, Ben Reese, Mrs. Arbutus Sincock, Lloyd Mitchell, Tom Matchett, Harvey Schmidt and Chris Larsen.
Carol Edgemon Hipperson: These were called "The Flora Dora Girls", I think. I don't recall ever seeing them myself, but I remember hearing for years afterward how they really wowed the crowd at the PTA show that night.
Conor Jorgensen: It appears I have added this picture twice, so I added the caption from the other picture here. The other picture proceeds the program "Gay 90's Jamboree," and Carol, I noticed a Mrs. James Edgemon listed as one of the directors on the front of the program. Isn't that your mother, Mildred?
Carol Edgemon Hipperson: Yes, Mrs. James Edgemon was my mother, Mildred. She was president of the PTA for at least a couple of years in the 50s.
Marsha Neihart: Clarence Davis on left, Ben Reese, Mrs. Arbutus Sincock, Lloyd Mitchell in back - can't see him, Tom Matchett, Harvey Schmidt, Chris Larsen. What men in Coulee City today would dress up like that??
Ed Davis: Well, I wouldn't have believed it. But there my dad is on the left. I wish mom were alive so there would be an explination. What is weird is that I did the same thing in Florence, Oregon when I live there but we were ballet dancers with tutus and the whole thing.
Conor Jorgensen: Hello, Ed! Here's the program that goes along with this picture. The date was March 14-15 1952, and I also noticed your sister, Leona, listed under acrobatics!
Ed Davis: I guess I know why he didn't bring it up. ha ha I was 3. I know dad was Santa Clause several time for I think there was a concert and then the kids lined up to sit on his lap. I knew it was him when I sat on his lap because he had very distinctive hands. . . . Conor, who's son are you?
Conor Jorgensen: I am Chris and Kim's son and Gordon and Linda's grandson. My Grandma Linda was good friends with your sister, Freda, and Grandpa Gordon was in the same class as your sister, Leona.
Carol Edgemon Hipperson: Conor, was Theda Gordon your great grandmother?
Ed Davis: I remember Alan and his brother had a band when we were all in High School. Is Alan's dad your dad's uncle?
Conor Jorgensen: Why, yes Theda (Pierpoint) Gordon was my great grandma, Carol! She was one of the nicest ladies I ever knew. Of course, her being my grandma, I'm a bit prejudice but I miss her so much. Ed: Allen, Owen, Paul and Keith's father was Ralph Jorgensen who was a brother to my Great Grandpa, Howard. So, Ralph was actually my Grandpa Gordon's uncle.
Carol Edgemon Hipperson: Ed, the band you are thinking of was Allen Jorgensen, his brother Owen, my cousin Jack Dorlarque, and Mike Bise. They were called The Bonnsmen.
Ed Davis: Yeh that is right. I remember them playing at Coulee's Kangaroo Court.
Carol Edgemon Hipperson: I remember Theda as a marvelous seamstress. She was always my mother's go-to person whenever "fancy" sewing or difficult alterations were needed. I especially recall going to her house for fittings for my rodeo queen costume in the spring of '67. She was very kind and reassuring to a nervous 16 year old girl. Ed, the Bonnsmen also played for a couple of dances in the grade school gym. I was their vocalist. You were already graduated and off to college that year.
Ed Davis: By the way I have fond memories of your mother and kindergarden. People probably didn't realize how dedicated she was to her classes in your home.
Carol Edgemon Hipperson: Mother always said, "Good teachers are born, not made." I think she must have been one of the naturals. Most of the kids who took her classes remember the Brownie and the Brownie slippers. I have no idea how she came up with that idea, but it sure was a hit with the 5 year olds in town.
