Mika Brzenzski Might Be Able to Say This On TV, But She Couldn’t Repeat it To a Soldier’s Face
MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski made an alarming accusation about those in the “millenial” generation who join the military. According to her, people in this generation only join “because they need the money.”
Will Persecution in India Grow Worse After This Year’s Elections?
Christians across India will be watching this year's elections closely. The possibility of a change in power and the election of Nerandra Modi as prime minister has many worried that religious intolerance, already a serious problem, will increase. Modi, currently the "chief minister" of the Indian state of Gujarat, did little to stop a massacre of Muslims citizens by Hindu fanatics in 2002. In 2008, tens of thousands of Christians were forced to flee their homes in Odisha State when Hindu radicals launched waves of mob attacks, burning down entire villages and murdering dozens. Radical offshoots of Modi's BJP party are highly influential and tend to inflame emotions against religious minorities.
Pakistan Christians Hope for Special Refugee Status in Netherlands
For Christians, few places on earth are today a more challenging place to live than in Pakistan. Routinely accused of "blasphemy" against Islam, entire Christian communities must sometimes flee attacks by mobs of angry radical Muslims. Politicians who stand up for Christian civil liberties are assassinated and last year a single suicide bombing attack on the All Saints Church in Peshawar left more than 80 Christians dead. Courts in the Netherlands are considering granting Pakistani Christians special refugee status, allowing them to seek refuge in the Netherlands more easily than refugees from the rest of the world.
Religious Freedom for Malaysia’s Christians Debated in the Courts
For years, Malaysia has been widely accepted to be a Muslim-majority nation with a high level of tolerance for religious minorities. This status has, however, deteriorated over the past several years to the point that Malaysia's Christians are now seriously concerned about their rights. The legal battle currently in Malaysia's courts over the use of the word "Allah" by non-Christians has become a flash point for anti-Christian sentiment. In 2010, several churches were firebombed after the government ruled in favor of religious minorities. Today the case is again in the courts, sparking fear that more attacks could ensue.
Believers in Laos Stand Firm in Faith Despite Opposition
Although the government of Laos technically claims to allow religious freedom, many Christians in more remote areas find themselves facing village leaders and neighbors hostile to their faith. Some face arrest or forced eviction from their homes for refusing to give up Christianity. In one recent example below, local authorities eventually gave up on pressuring a pastor and his church to recant after the believers consistently refused to abandon their faith.
All Contact Lost With Ma’aloula Nuns. Syria Will Sink Further Into War For Another 10 Years
The fate of Christian leaders kidnapped in Syria remains unknown. A group of nuns taken from the city of Ma’aloula are no longer in contact with a group that has been negotiating for their release. There has also been no word on the status of Orthodox bishops who have also been kidnapped in Syria. These are just a few of the many Christians who have been explicitly targeted in the middle of the nearly three-year-old war.

Changing The Way You Think Before You Speak Can Change The World
Our society has become a place of judgement, criticism, insults and bickering because we fail to listen, inspire, cooperate and be kind based on an appreciation of perspectives rather than our own truth. If you would like to know what will change the world more than anything else, think kindness and take the joy from your heart and give it others.
