Report: 9 out of 10 Top Christian Persecution Countries Due to Islamic Extremism
In the latest report highlighting the status of Christian persecution around the world, 9 out of the top 10 countries are Muslim majority states, and Islamic extremism is the primary cause of their persecution of Christians. North Korea again holds the spot at #1 for the worst persecutor of Christians, but behind that it is Islamic extremism that is largely driving the problem. Another troubling aspect has been the relatively silence of the United States government on the issue, despite efforts within Congress to make it a higher priority for the State Department and the White House.

California First-Grader Told ‘Jesus Is Not Allowed in School’
In yet another incident of Christianity facing discrimination in the U.S. public school system, a California 1st-grader was told by a teacher late last month that "Jesus is not allowed in school." The first-grade student, Isaiah Martinez, was handing out candy canes as Christmas gifts to fellow classmates with a small story attached to each candy cane that referenced Jesus. Isaiah was then confronted by his teacher, who reportedly took the candy canes and ripped the story from each, throwing the stories in the trash before handing the candy canes back to the student. The incident is only one of several reported across the U.S. last year as hostility towards orthodox Christianity continues to grow in the nation, especially in the public sphere.

Egypt’s Coptic Christians Celebrate Christmas Amid Fear, Hope

A recently released report on global persecution listed Egypt as #1 in total number of violent attacks. Despite this, the Egyptian church remains hopeful for a light coming for the future.

North Korea Still World’s Number One Persecutor of Christians
With 50,000 to 70,000 Christians believed to be locked away in horrific conditions at concentration camps around the country, North Korea remains indisputably the number one persecutor of Christians on earth today. Over the course of 2013 reports emerged of Christian missionaries killed traveling in and out of North Korea, of Christians executed in mass public executions, and of course of Kenneth Bae, the American missionary now detained for over a year. Around the world Christians must continue to pray for their brothers and sisters suffering so tremendously in the "Hermit Kingdom."

Christians and Muslims Pray for Peace in Nigeria
The security crisis in Nigeria has been raging since the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram began its insurgency in 2009. Bent on establishing a separate Islamic state in Nigeria's northern states, Boko Haram has perpetrated numerous acts of violence against Christians, moderate Muslims and government institutions. With no where else to turn, Christian and Muslim communities in Nigeria are turning to God to answer their prayer for peace.

Scientists: Americans are becoming weather wimps
As the world warms, the United States is getting fewer bitter cold spells like the one that gripped much of the nation this week. So when a deep freeze strikes, scientists say, it seems more unprecedented than it really is. An Associated Press analysis of the daily national winter temperature shows that cold extremes have happened about once every four years since 1900. Until recently. When computer models estimated that the national average daily temperature for the Lower 48 states dropped to 17.9 degrees on Monday, it was the first deep freeze of that magnitude in 17 years.

Lawyer: Jahi McMath stable after transfer
Under the care of "optimistic" doctors, Jahi McMath -- whom a judge and other doctors have declared brain-dead, over her family's objections -- is "improving" days after her release from an Oakland, California, hospital, her family's lawyer said. "She is doing very well and getting the treatment she should have gotten 28 days ago,"  Dolan said Wednesday, referring to what happened to Jahi after a December operation. However, barring a misdiagnosis, medical experts say the teen's condition can't improve if she is truly "brain dead," because there's no way to come back to life once brain activity ceases.
