The Barker Complex (Leahy/Barker Fire) as of this a.m. was 63% contained - hoping even higher number tonight's report or in the morning.
Fire Size: South Branch (Barker Canyon) 17,049 Acres; North Branch (Leahy) 74,834 Acres - Total Acreage: 91,883
Evacuations: Level II Evacuation Order has been lifted
Percent Contained: 63%
Fuels: Sparse timber, grass/understory/ bitterbrush, sage, slash, snags and down fuels in draws/canyons

The Barker Canyon Complex fires were started by lightning on Saturday, September 8. The two fires within the complex grew dramatically during a wind event over September 10-11. The Barker Canyon Fire initially threatened the towns of Grand Coulee and Coulee Dam, Washington, and burned through two power stations associated with the Grand Coulee Dam. This fire is currently estimated at 17,049 acres and has not grown over the past two days. The Leahy Fire is currently estimated to be 74,834 acres. There are no longer evacutions in effect for residents affected by these fires, and State Route 174 is open for public travel.
Firefighters are completing suppression activities and are aggressively mopping up all remaining smokes within 500 feet of structures and 200 feet of the fireline established around the perimeter of the fires.
