Americans ‘Deserve Protection’ That the Border Wall Will Provide, Bossie Says
Americans “deserve protection” from the threats illegal immigration pose to the nation — and they deserve the protection that a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border can provide, former Trump deputy campaign manager David Bossie said Thursday night on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.” President Donald Trump campaigned heavily on his now-iconic pledge to build a border wall.

If Trump Caves on the Wall, It Will Be the ‘End of His Presidency,’ Says Lindsey Graham
If President Donald Trump ultimately caves on his demand for border wall funding amid a partial government shutdown, then that “probably” will mark “the end of his presidency,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned on Wednesday night on Fox News’ “Hannity.” Trump campaigned heavily on his now-iconic pledge to build a security wall along the U.S.-Mexico border to prevent illegal immigration. Although Republicans held majorities in both the House and the Senate for the first two years of Trump’s presidency, lawmakers could not reach an agreement on funding the border wall — and punted on the issue. Now that Democrats have retaken the House majority, the $5 billion in border wall funding that Trump is demanding becomes even more difficult to attain.

House Dems Pass Plan to End Shutdown, Senate Unlikely to Take It Up
House Democrats were able to pass a package of two bills late Thursday intended to end the partial government shutdown — though this is unlikely to become law. There is no funding for the border wall in this package. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) brought the package to a vote during the first day of the new session. The package includes a temporary spending bill to give both sides time to resolve a stalemate on border security. It would also fully fund the remaining federal departments in order to open the government again. The Department of Homeland Security is covered by the temporary spending bill through February 8 since it overseas border security. President Donald Trump has rejected the proposal because it does not include $5 billion to fund his proposed border wall. Democratic leaders have refused to give him anything for the wall — which led to the stalemate.

Growing Socialist Wing of the Democrat Party Will Flex Its Muscles Starting Now
The growing socialist wing of the Democratic Party will flex its muscle Thursday with the seating of the new Congress, as more self-described Democratic socialists join the ranks and dozens of sitting and incoming members — including likely 2020 hopefuls — embrace a massive government expansion that would make FDR look like a penny pincher. The party agenda is increasingly embracing big-government policies like Medicare for All and guaranteed jobs programs — as well as an aggressive “Green New Deal” that would include all this and more as part of a fundamental overhaul to America’s economy and specifically its energy sector.

Pelosi Uses Republican-Based Bills to Try to Force Open the Government
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) argued for a plan on Thursday to end the ongoing partial government shutdown by reminding Senate Republicans the plan is based on bills they advanced. But those measures were passed when there was hope they’d become law.
Pelosi introduced the package — which has no money for the border wall — within hours of being elected speaker at the beginning of the new session. The package consists of two bills that are intended to reopen the government while leaving time to debate a lingering dispute on border security. She stressed an earlier argument that this is based on bills the Republican Senate already passed or advanced through committee.

Border Patrol Union Makes the Case for Trump’s Wall
President Donald Trump invited the largest union of border patrol agents to speak on Thursday on the topic of how a wall could help their mission to secure the border. Trump is in a heated standoff with Democratic leaders right now over his push to get $5 billion for a border wall. The inability thus far to reach a compromise led to a partial government shutdown on December 22. The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) made the case that border walls do indeed help prevent illegal immigration in this country. “I have been a border patrol agent for 21 years,” NBPC President Brandon Judd (shown above left) told reporters at the White House. “I can personally tell you from the work I have done on the southwest border that physical barriers — that walls — actually work. You hear a lot of talk that there are experts who say that walls don’t work. I promise you that if you interview border patrol agents, they will tell you that walls work.”
