Evangelical Anglicans warn they might walk away if CofE departs from 'apostolic truth'
An umbrella body for evangelicals in the Church of England has issued a stark warning of consequences for Church unity if it departs from 'apostolic truth' on sexual ethics. The Church of England Evangelical Council (CEEC) comprises a wide range of representatives from within the evangelical tradition. Members are drawn not only from bodies noted for their opposition to any move to liberalise Church teaching, such as the Anglican Mission in England, but mainstream organisations such as the Church Mission Society (CMS) and New Wine.

Young Americans' Disdain for Capitalism Misplaced
A substantial number of young Americans hold negative views towards the term “capitalism.” As a millennial, this is troubling. This negative attitude is pervasive among our cohort and is frequently referenced in both in-person discussions and on social media. The enmity that young Americans hold towards capitalism can be attributed to ideological and partisan predispositions, personal experiences during the Great Recession, the ensuing stagnant economy, and a fundamental confusion of capitalism with cronyism. This staunch opposition to capitalism will continue unless a better understanding of free market capitalism can be had. Short of that, the acerbic tweets about avocado toast will continue.

Christians are no strangers to ideological controversy. For generations, many have been inspired by the old story of a seemingly insignificant man from a poor village in the desert, who amassed a following of rag-tag nobodies to confront the most powerful empire of the day on behalf of the oppressed and downtrodden. He possessed supernatural abilities that enabled him to accomplish miraculous feats. The actions of this man and his followers would overthrow an empire, shape society, and capture the hearts and minds of countless individuals across the globe. Yet those who are most inspired by this ancient story are nonetheless sharply divided on how to embody the values of this narrative and accurately interpret its message in our 21st-century context.

Glen Grant: How Ukraine can build an army to beat Putin
Putin must destroy Ukraine as it exists now. To leave it intact is to destroy himself and his ambitions. He must win because of his war crimes: the mass graves, the torture in Donbas and Crimea, and the MH17 shootdown. All will put him firmly into The Hague as a war criminal. He must win because Ukraine is flourishing as a nation and it shows him as a failure. He must win because the truth will destroy him and Russia.

Remember When Government Decided to Wreck the Gas Can?
Soap doesn’t work. Toilets don’t flush. Clothes washers don’t clean. Light bulbs don’t illuminate. Refrigerators break too soon. Paint discolors. Lawnmowers have to be hacked. It’s all caused by idiotic government regulations that are wrecking our lives one consumer product at a time, all in ways we hardly notice. It’s like the barbarian invasions that wrecked Rome, taking away the gains we’ve made in bettering our lives. It’s the bureaucrats’ way of reminding market producers and consumers who is in charge. Surely, the gas can is protected. It’s just a can, for goodness sake. Yet he was right. This one doesn’t have a vent. Who would make a can without a vent unless it was done under duress? After all, everyone knows to vent anything that pours. Otherwise, it doesn’t pour right and is likely to spill.

What happened in the Tet Offensive's first 36 hours
It was just after 2 a.m. on Jan. 31, 1968, when the crackle of celebratory fireworks in South Vietnam’s capital gave way to the pounding of machine guns, grenades and rockets. As the country celebrated Lunar New Year, communist forces launched a wave of surprise attacks that became known as the Tet Offensive and would change the course of the Vietnam War.

PHOTOS: Rare Super Blue Blood Moon
Early Wednesday morning brought a lunar event that hasn't been seen since 1866. It was at least partially visible in all 50 U.S. states, though the views were better the farther west you live. This event – called a super blue blood moon – was actually three fairly common lunar happenings all happening at the same time. And scientists say that information gathered during the event could help them figure out where to land a rover on the moon.

For Spokane Democrats and allied PACs- a financial reckoning for lawbreaking
The Spokane County Democratic Party is settling into a resigned recognition that they are not exempt from the law.  The campaign finance laws apply to them as well as their political opponents.  Soon, there will be a price to be paid for past legal violations as the Washington State Attorney General closes in on final settlement terms for the lawsuit the AG filed against the Spokane County Democrats last year.  Their violations were significant, and the bill won’t be small.  A local Firefighter PAC and staunch ally of the local party is also discovering the laws actually apply to them as well.
