Griswold educator wins national teaching honor
Winner of history award avoids the dry and dusty

After Winning $15, Sawant Targets Unpaid Internships
Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant has found a new pet project to reduce opportunities for students seeking to enter the workforce. The soapbox-loving $15 Now Socialist recently preached at the University of Washington Social Work graduation ceremony on the need to terminate university-required, unpaid “practicums” or internships. Unbeknownst to her, however, these so-called “abominations” are often a golden ticket for students seeking to stand out to prospective employers.

Scotland Fights Its Way to Freedom, 700 Years Ago
During eight previous years of warfare with the English, Scottish King Robert the Bruce had never engaged his numerically superior foes in a major pitched battle. But on June 24, 1314, he finally stood his ground near the present-day town of Bannockburn, using tightly packed formations of pikemen to send the English into a wild retreat. From that point forward, Scotland was on the offensive, and in 1328 it officially won its independence.

Still waiting for the most important Obamacare ruling --- and it isn't Hobby Lobby
Though a U.S. Supreme Court decision on Hobby Lobby could have significant implications for religious liberty, it won't do much to disrupt the overall implementation of President Obama's health care law. But another case, Halbig v. Sebelius, set to be decided by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, could change that.

'It stinks': Democrats criticize White House over meeting with billionaire Tom Steyer
The White House, which has repeatedly bemoaned the influence of big money in politics, will open its doors to Tom Steyer, the environmental activist who has pledged to spend up to $100 million on November's elections to promote his climate-change agenda. Steyer is also a high-profile opponent of the Keystone XL pipeline, a project the Obama administration is still reviewing.
