EXCLUSIVE: Four female Boston College foreign exchange students who were sprayed with acid at Marseille train station are pictured as it emerges two of them suffered facial burns
A woman with 'deep psychological problems' was in custody in the French city of Marseille on Sunday after spraying four American students with acid and burning two in the face. The attack took place shortly after 11am on Sunday at the St Charles station, where the four women were preparing to board a train. All were Boston College juniors in their early 20s – three of them on a study abroad program in the French capital, and the fourth based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Constitutional Ignorance Led to a Tyranny of the Majority
Americans know too little about our Constitution to maintain the freedoms it was designed to protect. Instead, our ignorance leads us to sacrificing rights out of undue deference to majority rule.

Immigrants Will Play a Crucial Role in Hurricane Recovery Efforts
As areas of Texas, Louisiana, and Florida face a long and historically expensive recovery from Harvey and Irma, they need to learn all they can from Katrina. One of those lessons was the importance of immigrant labor in the rebuilding process.

Nearly 50 years after the war’s end, Americans, including Vietnam veterans, are still struggling to explain how we got involved in that disastrous, and ultimately futile, war. And that goes for Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, directors of The Vietnam War, a much-heralded 10-part, 18-hour epic series that debutted Sunday night on PBS.

Oregon's 54 covered bridges: A road map to see them all
There are few spans as stately as a covered bridge. In America, we tend to associate the wooden bridges with states back east, places like Pennsylvania and Vermont – which are indeed full of them – but here in Oregon we have our fair share as well. It’s been said that Oregon has more covered bridges than any other western state, but it’s not easy to nail down a solid number. Due to dilapidated structures, remote settings and confusing definitions on what technically is and is not a “covered bridge,” it’s hard to get a definitive understanding of how many we have. But by my count, we have a total of 54 – far more than any of our western neighbors.

When Lot Pitched His Tent Toward Sodom
It’s unfortunate that Hollywood doesn’t seem to be capable of making a movie these days without putting ... filth in there, but we should not be paying to see it. We should not be spending our time seeing it; we certainly shouldn’t be allowing our children to see those kinds of things. If you don’t want to lose your family to Sodom like Lot did, don’t live there. Don’t let them swim in the sewer. Don’t let them get used to the stench. Don’t tell them that it’s not so bad; don’t tell yourself it’s not so bad. It’s bad, it’s evil, and it will destroy your family. Remember Lot’s wife, remember Lot’s children, and his descendants, and remember Lot, and don’t even begin to pitch your tent towards Sodom.

San Diego Begins Bleaching Streets To Contain Outbreak Of Hepatitis A
A Hepatitis A outbreak has killed 16 people in the southern California city of San Diego. In order to combat the disease, the city has literally begun spraying the streets with bleach. An article by NPR said that the Hepatitis A was first identified in the area in early March, according to the county, and declared a public health emergency earlier this month. Nearly 400 people have been infected with the disease. The majority of those sickened by this viral infection outbreak have been homeless people. A letter from San Diego County health officials stated that hepatitis A is being spread through contact with a “fecally contaminated environment” as well as person-to-person transmission. A big part of the problem is an apparent lack of public restrooms in areas where the homeless population congregates.
