Trump Warned Saudis Off Military Move on Qatar
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates considered military action in the early stages of their ongoing dispute with Qatar before Donald Trump called leaders of both countries and warned them to back off, according to two people familiar with the U.S. president’s discussions. The Saudis and U.A.E. were looking at ways to remove the Qatari regime, which they accused of sponsoring terrorism and cozying up to Iran, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions were confidential. An Overhaul of America’s Foreign Assistance Programs Is Long Overdue
U.S. foreign aid programs must be refitted to meet 21st-century challenges and better serve American national security, foreign policy, and economic interests. USAID should be completely re-structured, with its core health ad humanitarian missions incorporated into the State Department. “We have been attacked. We are at war.” So begins a video released today by The Committee to Investigate Russia, an organization founded by When Harry Met Sally director Rob Reiner and neoconservative senior editor of The Atlantic David Frum. What happens when Hollywood Hillary-supporters join up with spooks and neocons to make propaganda? The "Committee to Investigate Russia" is born and it trots out washed up old Morgan Freeman to blabber on about how the US has been attacked by Russia and we are at war! Will this crude, McCarthyite propaganda stick? Or will Americans laugh at the foolishness of out-of-touch celebrities joining together with the likes of David "Axis of Evil" Frum and Max "let's have a war now" Boot?

Let Catalonia Decide
For libertarians, self-determination is the highest political end. In political terms, self-determination is liberty. In an ideal world, self-determination extends all the way to the individual, who enjoys complete political sovereignty over his or her life. The often misued term for this degree of complete self-determination is anarchy.
