How the Democrats Lost Their Way on Immigration
The myth, which liberals like myself find tempting, is that only the right has changed. In June 2015, we tell ourselves, Donald Trump rode down his golden escalator and pretty soon nativism, long a feature of conservative politics, had engulfed it. But that’s not the full story. If the right has grown more nationalistic, the left has grown less so. A decade ago, liberals publicly questioned immigration in ways that would shock many progressives today.

Critical Thinking Doesn't Mean What Most People Think
Academics like to say that we teach "critical thinking" without thinking too critically about what it means to think critically. Too often in practice, people equate critical thinking with merely being skeptical. Or they will interpret it to mean that, when confronted with something that they disagree with, they either stop listening or attempt to "educate" the speaker about why their statement is flawed. People are much less likely to endure the uncomfortable task of examining their own beliefs.
