Sue Lani Madsen: Small-town response after fatal bus crash offers a lesson to all
Just a year ago on Thanksgiving Day, the communities of Quincy and George had wrapped their arms around the UW Husky Band after a rollover accident on icy I-90 en route to the Apple Cup. This year, they put those lessons to use for another group of strangers on a bus. When you drive across the wide open spaces of central Washington or into the forests for recreation, remember those little dots on the map are your safety net.
What’s old is new again: Former Milford’s Fish House is now Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill & Irish Pub
When Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill & Irish Pub opened on Dec. 2 on Monroe Street and Broadway Avenue, the restaurant had big plates and pints to fill in the building just north of downtown Spokane and Kendall Yards. While the building at 719 N. Monroe St. has been around for 95 years, it was home to Milford’s Fish House for four decades before the Spokane favorite and institution’s closing in February 2018. The site also has been a grocery store and market.
