Trump Tells Muslim Nations to Drive Out Terrorists: ‘Path to Peace Begins Right Here’
The nations of the world must “stand in uniform condemnation” of terrorism, President Donald Trump told a gathering of Muslin leaders in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Unlike Barack Obama, Donald Trump is not interested in lecturing foreign nations.

Trump descends into 'hellhole' This WEEK
Trump, Erdogan, and Macron will all meet in Brussels this week among other NATO leaders, as the US president makes his debut in the European Union. US president Donald Trump had once called Brussels a “hellhole”, cheered for Brexit, and dismissed Nato as “obsolete” – all of which raised questions in Europe about his commitment to transatlantic alliances.

EU gives mandate for Barnier to take on Brexit
In its final preparatory act before Brexit talks begin, the EU has officially given the negotiating mandate to Michel Barnier. The French politician said he would like to start negotiations on the week of 19 June.

EU wary over Ukrainian weapons in South Sudan

Hungarians march against Orban crackdown
Thousands of protesters, on Sunday, called on Hungarian leader to repeal laws against foreign funded NGOs and a top university in Budapest. Demonstrators wanted Orban's government to amend a higher education law which, critics say, attempts to the drive Central European University (CEU) out of Budapest. The university was founded by Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros.

Malta surprised by sudden interest in its tax regime
Maltese politicians defended the country's tax regime over the weekend, after an international group of media outlets began publishing stories about the so-called Malta Files. The EU’s smallest nation came under new public scrutiny on Friday (19 May) when a journalists’ network called the European Investigative Collaborations (EIC) published the Malta Files. The EIC said the articles “show how the Mediterranean state works as a pirate base for tax avoidance inside the EU”.

Water is Not a Precious Resource
Potable water is sufficiently abundant today in most places where human beings live that it can be acquired at a low price. Indeed, given modern techniques for delivering and safely storing potable water, water is widely available today even in some desert areas, such as Las Vegas and Tucson. So why do we need low-flow faucets?

Has Real Socialism Ever Been Tried?
Socialists always claim that real socialism has never existed. Capitalists always claim the real capitalism has never existed. Are they right?

BURYING BENEDICT
Though Benedict is still living, Francis is trying to bury him. Upon his election in 2013, Francis began to pursue an agenda that Joseph Ratzinger had opposed throughout his career. A stress on the pastoral over against the doctrinal, a promotion of diverse disciplinary and doctrinal approaches in local churches, the opening of communion to the divorced and remarried—all these proposals were weighed and rejected by Ratzinger more than ten years ago in a heated debate with Walter Kasper. For better or worse, Francis now seeks to reverse Ratzinger.

BAPTISM: A NEW BIRTH INTO A LIVING HOPE
Baptism’s new reality forms the very core of our faith in God and our understanding of ourselves — in baptism we have been united to Christ and given his risen, powerful, incorruptible life. Baptism into Christ gives us a living hope, especially in the midst of death.

Let us talk about life. Do you have anyone interesting to talk to about this? If not, then don’t worry as I have very few myself. If you venture to cautiously ask your acquaintances and relatives: “Why do we live on this Earth?” or “What is the purpose of life?” their reaction will be silence or slight confusion. Ask elderly people, who have been “through the mill”, the same question, and you will seldom hear a deep, sensible answer. It is sad to see an old man who is not spiritually experienced and not worldly-wise. More and more people are becoming petty—this has been observed by many. Fewer and fewer people prefer to speak of lofty and important things, while nearly everyone prefers to talk of this-worldly and material things all the time.

Explosion at Manchester Arena After Ariana Grande Concert Kills at Least 19
BBC and The Guardian are both featuring constantly updated feeds with latest news from the scene, including harrowing eyewitness reports. The current number of confirmed dead is 19, with around 50 others injured, according to the Greater Manchester Police. There is no hard confirmation of cause or responsibility for the explosion at time of posting, though the BBC reports that "North West Counter Terrorism Unit is treating the incident in Manchester as a possible terrorist incident."

Report: President Trump Asked Top Intelligence Officials to Push Back Against FBI
Unnamed sources tell The Washington Post that Trump approached the director of national security and head of the NSA to publicly denounce FBI's Russia probe.

Who's Telling the Truth in Washington? Anyone?
For politicians lying is an art form. If you are among the small cohort of Americans who want to know what is really going on—rather than simply wanting more ammunition to support your preferred political team—then you have a problem: It's hard to know who is telling the truth. Hardly a stunning new insight. But it bears down with more weight now, because the public is confronted with competing narratives from what an English professor would call two unreliable narrators: the press and the Trump administration.

How Deregulation Gave Us FM Radio, HBO, and the iPhone
The FCC is designed to protect incumbents, enrich politicians, and screw consumers, says economist Thomas Hazlett. So-called net neutrality rules are designed to solve a non-existent problem and threaten to restrict consumer choice, Hazlett tells Reason's Nick Gillespie. "The travesty is there's already a regulatory scheme [to address anti-competitive behavior]—it's called antitrust law."

Libertarian Legal Scholars Reject Trump Judicial Nominee's Views on 14th Amendment
One of President Donald Trump's federal court nominees favors an interpretation of the 14th Amendment that libertarian legal scholars have roundly rejected. Kevin Newsom, President Trump's nominee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, argued that the Privileges or Immunities Clause of the 14th Amendment offers zero protection for economic liberty. That view is hotly contested by libertarian constitutional experts.

Speaking to Sputnik, respected Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko explained why the program was a pipe dream at best, and a sadistic pipe dream at worst.

Urban enviro-imperialism describes the growing trend where a population with no connection to rural life believes they have superior knowledge and ability to manage rural communities and the environment. Rarely do these urban dwellers actually enjoy nature or visit a farm. Still they believe their prescriptions are the best solutions.
