The marble slab, which is just over 60cm (24in) high, is inscribed in an early Hebrew script called Samaritan. It only includes nine of the original Biblical commandments; the 10th is a local Samaritan rule. The auctioneers, Heritage Auctions, said it probably dates from between 300 and 500 AD, and could have marked the entrance to a synagogue.

Networks Drill Pipeline Supporters, Quote Opponents 7 Times More
Peaceful protest is a protected right in America. Trespassing on private property, tire slashing, damaging equipment, arson, Molotov cocktail-throwing and shooting at police are not acts of protest. They are crimes. Even eco-terrorism. Yet, the network news media sympathetically covered the “activists,” “protesters” and “demonstrators” in North Dakota opposing completion of the Dakota Access oil Pipeline (DAPL) — even as they grew violent. The media turned a blind eye toward their bias in 2016 election coverage. Now they're blind to their bias in coverage of the Dakota pipeline protests.

Aristotle Called the 2016 Election
Almost 2,500 years ago, Aristotle wrote his book, Rhetoric. It remains today one of the best books on persuasion ever written. Aristotle says that there are three ways in which people are persuaded: ethos, logos, and pathos. These criteria apply to today's elections as they did to ancient orators. Had our prognosticators looked up from their graphs and charts and taken into account the philosophical principles that have been known for over two millennia, they might have been a little more accurate in their predictions.

The historic Black church and the Catholic Church in America, though allies in many struggles, have been too much like strangers to each other for too long. It should not have taken the unprecedented moral challenges we now face, or the abject failures of our political elites, to bring us closer together.

Union Lets Workers’ Pensions Erode, Keeps Money for Its Own Employees
The United Mine Workers of America—a roughly 100,000-member coal mining union—is lobbying hard for a taxpayer bailout of its underfunded pension plan before the end of the year. And it’s already well on its way. The case of the UMWA suggests that unions know how to run well-funded plans, but have often chosen not to do so unless it’s their own pension on the line. If the UMWA was able to secure a healthy pension fund for itself, how did it end up pushing the pensions of nearly a hundred thousand coal miners to the point of no return?

The victories for Donald Trump and the Brexit campaign have added to the feelgood factor around the leader. People are hungry for radical change – one that Corbyn, rather than Theresa May, is well-placed to fill.

As the former Facebook product designer Bobby Goodlatte put it: “Sadly, [Facebook’s] News Feed optimises for engagement. As we’ve learned in this election, bullshit is highly engaging.”
