Anti-Choice GOP Doubles Budget for 'Witch-Hunt' Panel
'It is appalling that the House of Representatives just gave the dangerous Select Investigative Panel an $800,000 pat on the back for its work to peddle lies'
With a vote largely along party lines, the House approved an additional $800,000 for the so-called "Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives," created last October to look into fetal tissue research in the wake of 2015's video smear campaign by anti-abortion activists that purported to show Planned Parenthood officials admitting to selling fetal body parts. In January, a grand jury empaneled to investigate those charges indicted the anti-abortion activists for fraud instead.

President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton was the result of a number of actions that the news media chose to ignore, but the American people still discovered. For example, an overwhelming number of law enforcement fraternal and labor organizations broke ranks from the rest of the unions to endorse candidate Trump. That included the federal officers with the U.S. Border Patrol, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and the nation’s largest police union representing local and state police, the Fraternal Order of Police with more than 300,000 members and affiliates. Now many cops are urging President Trump and his Attorney General to rescind Executive Order 13688 which was meant to decrease the protection of police officers by reducing their self-defense capabilities. The goal was to appease rioters, activists and certain politicians who felt threatened by police officers based on “how they looked.”

Sweet Intervention Turns Sour For Taxpayers
The New York Times warns us that soda taxes are gaining wider acceptance and “your bottle may be next.” Just how on earth did drinking soda become a sin, to be taxed wantonly, joining the likes of cigarettes and booze? It is as Ludwig von Mises explained: one intervention leads to another. The first intervention began with the Sugar Act of 1934, a piece of Great Depression legislation putting the government in charge of sugar policy, because sugar beets and sugarcane were deemed basic commodities.

"Buying Local" Is as Senseless as "Buying Tall"
Many advocates of “buying local” insist that buying local is good for the local economy and, hence, economically good for each person in the local economy.  For a number of reasons, the economics on which the “buy local” movement rests is remarkably weak.

REQUIEM FOR A DESPOT
Something very frightening has been made evident in the past few days: the fact that there are many people like Trudeau in this world, who not only are comfortable with the crimes of a cruel despot, but who actually find those crimes praiseworthy. Slavery is what Fidel’s revolution was about. Brooking no dissent, he enslaved a nation in the name of eternal class warfare, creating a new elite dedicated to suppressing their neighbors’ rights.

In Defense of Trump’s Deal with Carrier
Donald Trump hasn’t yet made the move from Trump Tower to America’s most expensive public housing, but he was able to come through with one campaign promise this week by announcing a deal with Indiana-based Carrier Air Conditioning that will keep almost 1,000 jobs in the state. As reported, the deal seems largely focused on the State of Indiana offering millions in tax breaks and an understanding that the Trump administration will push for regulatory and corporate tax relief at the Federal level. As long as Trump sticks to tax and regulatory relief, bring on the Art of the Deal.
