If The GOP Forces The US To Default, Obama Should Raise The Debt Ceiling Himself
I emphatically do not agree with this article. For one thing, it would not be the GOP that forces a default. For another, I don't believe the President has the authority to raise the debt ceiling himself. Also, there is more than enough revenue coming in to service the debt, as well as most of the rest of our government, so the only way a "default" could happen is by contrivance on the part of the administration. - C. Dogs have FEELINGS too! Neuroscientist reveals research that our canine friends have emotions just like us
Gregory Berns, a professor of neuroeconomics at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, says dogs use the same area of the brain as humans do to feel. Berns' research is the result of months of MRI scans on dogs who are not sedated but trained to sit perfectly still in the machine. The results show that dogs use the caudate nucleus part of the brain when responding to humans they know. It is the same part of the brain humans use in the anticipation of things we enjoy, like food, love and money. Berns says this shows that dogs have a level of sentience comparable to that of a human child. He says this should change the way we perceive dogs and how we treat them

How the Silk Road Shutdown Makes Everyone Less Safe
It took someone named Dread Pirate Roberts to create a way for people to buy and sell illegal drugs without the threat of getting hurt and with little threat of getting ripped off. His deep website, Silk Road, was the eBay of the underworld until it was seized by the FBI last week. When the government shut down Silk Road, it kicked all its users back onto the streets, locking them out of the safest way anyone has ever devised for acquiring an illicit substance—whether a mind-altering substance or a not-yet-FDA-approved food or medication. Silk Road was a force for peaceful exchange, and it helped mitigate black market violence. The site also helped ensure the quality of the products traded there.

Somali and Eritrean Christians’ Dangerous Journey to Freedom
Eritrea and Somalia are two of the nations most hostile to Christianity. The recent sinking of a migrant ship in Italian waters loaded with Eritrean and Somali refugees, many of whom were Christians, highlights their desperation. Just as the pursuit of religious freedom drove European settlers to what is now the United States, East African refugees regularly ply this harrowing route to escape religious persecution. The regular stream of refugees fleeing to the shores of Europe, and the mounting numbers of those whose journeys are cut short by murder, enslavement, or shipwreck, make for a tragedy that deserves more attention from the international community. Please pray for those making this perilous journey.
