Death Toll Rises As Christians in Pakistan Recover from Last Week’s Suicide Bombing
The Christian death toll from last week's suicide bombing continues to rise as Christians attempt to recover from the attack. On September 22, All Saints Church in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar was attacked by 2 suicide bomber. The bombers detonated their suicide vests full of ball bearings as members of All Saints Church were leaving the Sunday worship service. Officially, the number of Christians killed in the attack remains under 100, but according to many Christians in Peshawar, the number of killed could be well over 100 because many families brought the bodies of their loved ones home for burial before hospital workers had an opportunity to survey the scene.

7 Innocent Christians Falsely Convicted for 2008 Murder of Hindu Extremist Group Leader
A court in Orissa has convicted 7 innocent Christian men for the 2008 murder of the Hindu leader Laxamananda Saraswati despite the lack of convincing evidence and a local communist group coming forward and taking responsibility for the murder. The murder of the Hindu extremist group leader sparked off the 2008 anti-Christian riots in Orissa that resulted in mobs of Hindu radicals marching from village to village attacking Christians and destroying their homes. All told, Christians in 600 villages were attacked, over 5,600 Christian homes were looted and set on fire, 300 churches were reduced to rubble and over 100 Christians were murdered. Please pray that justice will be done and the 7 innocent Christians will be released to their families soon.

Defectors Aided by Christian Missionaries Caught and Returned to North Korean Nightmare
The following article by CNN's Paula Hancock details the devastatingly tragic ordeal of nine young defectors, aged 15-23, who were sent back to North Korea earlier this year after traveling thousands of miles in an attempt to find freedom. The defectors were aided by South Korean missionaries who are reportedly devastated by the loss. After years of harrowing ordeals and escapes, the group had made it to Laos, only to be separated by Lao authorities and sent back to North Korea. They nine young defectors have been paraded by State controlled television and many fear that once there case is forgotten they will either be shipped off to labor camps or executed. North Korea is the worlds number one persecutor of Christians, with tens of thousands of Christians currently believed to be locked up in six labor camps around the country.

Are the Islamists Winning in Nigeria?
Despite maintaining the largest standing Army on the African continent, and enacting a military state of emergency in the primary areas of militant operations, Nigeria doesn't seem to be making headway in its efforts to defeat the Islamist insurgency. Christians and others viewed as heretics or non-believers are routinely targeted for murder and torture by the Boko Haraam terrorists as part of their ongoing effort to create an Islamic state under Sharia rule. And the Nigerian government seems powerless to stop them.

200,000 Refugees Flee Battle with Islamic Rebels in Southern Philippines
As reports of the battle between the Philippine military and militants belonging to radical Islamist seperatist groups in the Southern Philippines begin to die down the scale of the humanitarian crisis caused by the violence begins to emerge. According to Asia News more than 200,000 have fled the conflict, which centered around Zamboanga City on the island of Mindanao. For years Muslims insurgents have been fighting for independence from the pre-dominantly Christian population of the Philippines, though over the past two decades radical extremists, including the group Abu Sayyaf, have become more involved in acts of terror, including the kidnapping of Christian missionaries and priests.

Vietnam Sentences Christian Lawyer to 2 1/2 Years Behind Bars
Vietnam, one of the worlds five remaining Communist states, has just sentenced Catholic lawyer and activist Le Quoc Quan to 2 1/2 years in prison on trumped up charges of tax fraud. The sentencing came despite unusually large protests by Christians and others outside the courthouse in Hanoi, the capital. Quan has called for democratic reforms and religious freedom in Vietnam, where millions of Christians still practice their faith in sometimes hostile conditions. Christians among the ethnic communities, especially in the Central Highlands and Northwest Mountainous Regions, face some of the most severe forms of persecution, including harassment, beatings, and imprisonment. The government of Vietnam aims to continually control the growth of Christianity, which is perceived as a Westernized faith and a threat to Communist control.

Armed Rebels Victimize Christians in Colombia with Impunity
10/2/2013 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern) – As Christians are victimized by violent acts of persecution at the hands of armed rebels, in the politically charged climate of Colombia; the future does not look good for one of the most vulnerable groups in the country. A Special Report by ICC

Missing Italian Priest ‘Still Alive’ in Syria
ICC Note: Reports have been given to the European Parliament stating that Father Paolo Dall’Oglio is still alive after his kidnapping in July. There had been previous reports that he had been killed, but those were never confirmed. Father Dall’Oglio has been working actively in Syria for most of the past 30 years. This good news comes days after reports stating two other bishops, kidnapped since April, were also believed to still be alive and held in captivity in southern Syria. The situation remains difficult for the Christians who have lived on this land side-by-side with their Muslim neighbors for centuries and only recently have become the targets of direct persecution because of their faith by Islamic extremist groups who want to drive them out of Syria.

Somalis in Minnesota Still Enlisting in Terror Group that Describes the Killing of Christians as “Disneyland,” and Beckons Muslims to “Join in this Fun.”
Despite the widely publicized horrors of the Westgate Mall massacre in Kenya last week, reports indicate that the perpetrators, the al Shabaab Islamists, are still successfully recruiting from America's largest Somali community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Al Shabaab utilizes the Muslim call to jihad as rationale for filling its ranks, explaining that service with the terror group is tantamount to a religious duty. Recruitment videos insinuate that the killing of Christians and innocents "is the real Disneyland," and beckons Muslims to "come join in this fun." More than 22 young men are known to have joined al Shabaab in the last six years, but actual numbers remain elusive.

The Persecution of Christians in Pakistan Continues in the Wake of September’s Church Bombing
Although September's suicide bombing of All Saints Church was the single most deadly attack on Christians in Pakistan's history, Christians across the country have suffered intense persecution for year at the hands of Islamic radicals. Christians are disproportionately accused and convicted under Pakistan's controversial blasphemy law. Christian women are kidnapped, forced to marry Muslim men and forcefully converted to Islam. These daily incidents of persecution make Christians in Pakistan some of the most persecuted Christians in the world.
