After cutting nearly one trillion dollars from Medicaid over the next decade, the Trump administration is distributing one-time funds for state governments to shore up struggling rural hospitals. Despite having a larger rural population than Idaho, Washington received millions of dollars less.

While a recent report found Spokane County has many great resources to address behavioral and mental health issues, members of the privately led Safe and Healthy Spokane task force will spend the next few months figuring out the best recommendations for how local officials can ensure systems work better together and invest in improvements.
