by Iain Murray: One of the odd things about the modern resurgence of socialism is that its most fervent advocates seem confused about what socialism actually is. I discuss this problem in my new book, The Socialist Temptation, but I thought it worthwhile to expand on one particular aspect of the question—are modern Scandinavian countries actually socialist? This question must be asked because it is a common rhetorical device of “democratic socialist” politicians to wave away objections about the horrors of past socialist regimes. ... Socialism, in its simplest definition, is popular control of the means of production, distribution, and exchange, either by public ownership or through bureaucratic oversight and control.

“We print it digitally,” Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said of money. They sure do. Real fiscal debt levels and unreckoned-with entitlements present obligations beyond even today’s record corona-bolstered $26 trillion debt and $4 trillion deficit.

Julian Simon once bet Paul Ehrlich that five certain metals would become more affordable over time.
Simon won the bet—and based on this new time price analysis of data going back to 1900, it seems that Simon's victory was no fluke.

“PAST ITS TEEMING TIME”: LESSONS FROM COLONIAL BARBADOS ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM
By Mark Clavier: When John Atkins, a British royal navy surgeon, visited Barbados in 1722, he was astonished by what he found. He had heard about the wealth and fertility of the island, then a leading producer of sugar in the British Empire. Instead, he saw a colony in decline: “the Crops of late years have very much failed… The Soil fertile in the Age past, seems now growing old, and past its teeming time.” Forty years later, the land was so exhausted from monocropping that planters briefly imported soil from South America until it became clear that transporting earth swarming with wood ants in wooden ships was not the wisest strategy.

RIGHT BIAS: John Birch SocietyWith UN Discredited, Globalists Pursue “League of Democracies”
With the scandal-plagued United Nations increasingly marginalized and ridiculed as a “dictators club” in the United States, Deep State globalists appear to be pursuing a “Plan B” of sorts to move their agenda forward. Meet the proposed “League of Democracies,” a decades-old plot being rehabilitated and peddled by the global-government-promoting Council on Foreign Relations, the powerhouse Carnegie Foundation, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and various propaganda organs of the globalist establishment. If successful, globalists hope the proposed alliance of 10 “democracies” will quickly become a European Union-style entity advancing globalist goals. The scheme for creating this planetary league of “democracies,” known as “D-10” among supporters, was first reported publicly in May. However, despite being reported as a novel idea, the plan to develop an alternate mechanism for advancing globalism has been on the Deep State's agenda for decades. According to news reports, British Prime Minister Johnson's government had already approached Washington, D.C., about it. The Times of London reported that the proposed alliance would include all of the Group of 7 (G-7) governments — United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Germany, France, Japan and Canada — representing more than half of global wealth. Also involved would be the governments of Australia, South Korea, and India.
