Kelp found off Scotland dates back 16,000 years to last ice age
Scientists have discovered kelp off the coast of Scotland, Ireland and France that has survived since the last ice age, around 16,000 years ago. Experts from Heriot-Watt University's Orkney campus analysed the genetic composition of oarweed from 14 areas across the northern Atlantic ocean. The team found three distinct genetic clusters. It is hoped the discovery could help show how marine plant life survives extreme changes in climate.

Antitrust Showdown In Congress: Big Tech, Meet Big Government
There’s a contradiction in the Trump, and by extension Republican, deregulatory agenda that could inadvertently threaten the recovery of an already wavering economy. That aberration is the continued reflexive embrace of antitrust regulation, an original sin of the administrative state with vast, potentially destructive societal costs. With antitrust intervention, politicians and bureaucrats do not merely push companies around; they also directly or indirectly dictate business models and can even inappropriately influence the trajectory of entire economic sectors in non-market directions.

Report: More Than 40% Of U.S. Renter Households Are At Risk Of Eviction [Infographic]
On July 31, approximately 25 million people across the U.S. will stop receiving weekly $600 federal unemployment checks. Under new proposals by Senate Republicans, those benefits would be cut by 43% and replaced with a reduced weekly payment of $200 through September. That could have serious repercussions for tens of millions of Americans who have counted on the $600 payment as a crucial financial lifeline amid the economic havoc wreaked by the pandemic across the country. On top of that, the Federal Eviction Moratorium has expired, placing renters with federally backed mortgages at risk of losing their homes. It is estimated that they account for just over a quarter of all U.S. renters.

Remington Arms declares bankruptcy despite surging gun demand
Firearms maker Remington Arms Co. filed for bankruptcy protection for the second time since 2018, weighed down by more debt than it can repay even as fearful Americans buy more guns than ever. Remington, which supplies weapons for hunting, shooting sports, law enforcement and the military, sought chapter 11 protection and will try to sell its business at a time when civil unrest and worries about personal safety have driven firearm sales to record highs.    Despite shedding roughly $775 million in debt in 2018, the company has struggled with high interest costs and has faced litigation related to the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, in which the killer used a Bushmaster rifle manufactured by Remington.

Socialists on the March
Last week, several self-proclaimed Democratic Socialists defeated long-serving Democratic incumbents in New York State primaries. One of the insurgents, Zohran Mamdani, tweeted out the words, “Socialism won.” His pinned tweet on his profile page says, “Together, we can tax the rich, heal the sick, house the poor & build a socialist New York. But only if we build a movement of the multiracial working class to stand up to those who want to stop us . . . Solidarity forever.” This is a pretty good summary of what people currently attracted to socialism think they mean by the term — tax the rich and bring down the special interests to bring about a better country founded upon an agenda of radical egalitarianism. Yet anyone who has studied the history of socialism knows that this will fail, painfully, and possibly violently. Why do people fall for this time and again?

UTT Reviews Biden Speech to Hamas dba EMGAGE
On July 20, 2020, democrat Presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke online for the Million Muslim Voters Summit hosted by the Muslim Brotherhood’s EMGAGE, formerly called Emerge USA. EMGAGE was founded by and is led by Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas operatives. ... During his brief speech for the EMGAGE/Muslim Brotherhood online event, Presidential candidate Joe Bide made a number of comments which bear review and attention as they reveal a gross lack of understanding of the very organization with whom Mr. Biden is working – Hamas/EMGAGE – as well as his ignorance about the Islamic Movement in the United States, its modus operandi, and the doctrine they follow – sharia.
