Located in central Washington, running from Yakima, Washington (yes, a different spelling) on US-97 to meet SR-14 at the Columbia River, the Yakama Scenic Byway slices through the Yakama people’s ancestral homeland, much of it now known as the Yakama Indian Reservation. The byway begins at a point where arid desert hills drop into productive plains, then leaves farmland behind and begins a slow climb into the desolate beauty of the hills leading into the Simcoe Mountains and across Satus Pass.

Dan Bolyard posted this old photo of the Keller Ferry. This is the "LA McLeod," put into service July 1939, and taken out of service in May 1944 because of under-performance. The "Ann of Wilbur," a tug boat, tugged the "Sanpoil" barge as a temporary replacement for the "McLeod." On September 9, 1948, the "Martha S" took over and ran until July 7, 2013.

On October 24,1962, the Ririe Project in Idaho was approved for Corps Construction and Reclamation operation. The Ririe Project was constructed to impound and control the waters of Willow Creek, a Snake River tributary in eastern Idaho, for flood control, irrigation and recreation. Significant fish and wildlife protection measures also are included. Major features include Ririe Dam and Lake and Ririe Outlet Channel.

Always be aware of the feeling of superiority. Self-righteous superiority is your biggest clue that you are in an ego trap. The ego loves to sneak in the back door. It will take a noble idea and twist it to serve its own ends by making you feel superior to others; you will start to look down on those who are not following your righteous spiritual path. Superiority, judgment, and condemnation: that is the ego trap.

Just part of the beauty of holding another life within you.
