The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, has paid a visit to Holy Trinity Anglican Church on the Errislannan peninsula in Connemara, County Galway, to see for himself the €70,000 (Euro, approximately £62,800 GBP) damaged caused by vandals on a wrecking spree. The Church was built by the Revd Richard Wall on land belonging to Errislannan Manor, which he acquired in 1850. But with the diminishing size of the estate – and its population – it was decided to demolish it in 1957. But four years later it was rescued by the Friends of St Flannan’s. It is now used for services in July and August to cater for the many visitors to the beautiful peninsula. But last month, vandals ransacked the church causes tens-of-thousands of Euros worth of damage.

Call for protected freedom of speech after Australians vote “yes” to same-sex marriage
Australia’s Parliament has begun the process of legalising same-sex marriage after a resounding “yes” to the proposal in a plebiscite. "In other western democracies, the coercive effect of changing the definition of marriage has been to restrict people’s ability to hold a different point of view.... Therefore what the parliament needs to do now, in legislating for same-sex marriage, is to do so in a way which protects people's liberties.”--Glenn Davies, Archbishop of Sydney.

Removal of prayer for conversion of the Jews to be revisited at General Synod 2019
Another resolution to remove a prayer for the conversion of the Jews from the Book of Common Prayer is likely to come before General Synod in 2019 after a decision made by Council of General Synod (CoGS) over the weekend. A resolution to remove the prayer was put to General Synod for a first reading in 2016, but failed narrowly to get the two-thirds approval it needed in all three houses after receiving the support of more than 70% of clergy and laity, but just 65.63% of bishops. In a presentation to CoGS November 11, Bruce Myers, bishop of Quebec, said the resolution may have failed partly because some members of synod may not have fully understood the context of the resolution. Removing a prayer for the conversion of the Jews from the Book of Common Prayer would be a “small but meaningful gesture” in relations between Canadian Anglicans and Jews, Bruce Myers, bishop of Quebec, told Council of General Synod.

Diocese of Caledonia priest fired ‘without cause’
The Rev. Jacob Worley, whose election as bishop of the diocese of Caledonia was not upheld by the provincial House of Bishops in May, has been fired from his position as a priest effective November 30, 2017. The termination was made “without cause,” according to a statement released by diocesan administrator, the Rev. Gwen Andrews.

CEI Urges Swift Action on CFPB Problems as Director Richard Cordray Resigns
Competitive Enterprise Institute financial policy expert John Berlau responds to news today that the controversial Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Richard Cordray, is resigning: “Richard Cordray’s impending resignation as Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is long overdue. The CFPB under Cordray’s tenure has failed consumers, as the bureau issued massively expensive regulations that crushed Main Street banks and credit unions...."

WALSH: NBC News Says It's Immoral To Have Kids. Here Are 6 Reasons Why That's Insane.
NBC News published a truly grotesque piece of propaganda today arguing that it's "morally suspect" because kids harm the environment. The academic who wrote the piece says that having kids is like releasing a murderer from prison (seriously). We are morally responsible for the carbon our kids emit in the same way we'd be morally responsible for the future murders committed by the guy we helped escape from jail. I decided to respond in detail to this madness because it's not fringe or uncommon. Lots of people feel this way. And it's an incredibly dangerous idea. More than dangerous, it's just monumentally stupid.

How the U.S. Should Respond to ICC Investigation into Alleged Crimes in Afghanistan
The decision of the ICC prosecutor to seek a formal investigation into alleged crimes committed in Afghanistan since 2003 creates the sobering possibility that U.S. military personnel and government officials could be investigated and subjected to ICC arrest warrants. This despite the fact that the U.S. never ratified the Rome Statute, rejects its claims of jurisdiction, and has investigated these matters. This should be of concern to both Congress and the Trump Administration. In response, the U.S. should reiterate that the U.S. will not ratify the Rome Statute and rejects ICC jurisdiction over U.S. persons, will refuse to cooperate with the investigation, will assert that U.S. investigations should preclude ICC investigations into allegations against U.S. persons, will seek to prevent surrender of U.S. persons to the Court, and will reassess U.S. support for the ICC.

9 Ideas for Negotiating a Better NAFTA
Nearly six months ago, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer notified Congress of the Trump administration’s intent to modernize the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Since then, four rounds of negotiations have taken place among the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The fifth round starts this week. Here are nine ideas for NAFTA that would promote the Trump administration’s economic-growth agenda. 1. Encourage a year-round supply of affordable fruit and vegetables. 2. Create a good agreement that is designed to last. 3. Promote U.S. manufacturers’ access to the best inputs from across the globe. 4. Reduce the burden of labor and environmental regulations. 5. Stick to the constitutional principle that governments should not take Americans’ property without providing just compensation. 6. Maintain incentives for all three countries to play by the rules. 7. Give U.S. taxpayers the best “bang for the buck” in government contracts. 8. Allow trucks to deliver goods throughout North America. 9. When looking at trade balances, don’t cherry-pick the data.

Deterring Kim Jong-un’s North Korea
Kim Jong-un is not stupid or suicidal. Absent an existential threat he will hold his fire, provoking his enemies with missile and nuclear tests but not providing them a casus belli. He may miscalculate and cross an unseen Trump administration red line, but not purposefully. He knows that war means the end of his regime and perhaps as well the extinction of the North Korean people.

How the ACNA helped me become an Episcopalian
My theological vocation has demanded that if I am to be an Anglican in the United States, I need to be an Episcopalian. The Anglican Communion actually is something; there is a given-ness to its life and structures, and a part of this given-ness is that the Anglican Communion is a communion of churches in communion with the See of Canterbury. In the United States, the Anglican province is the Episcopal Church. I found that in my theological research and writing, when I was engaged in Anglican ecclesiology, I could only write with reference to the Episcopal Church. I know no other way to do ecclesiology.

Cancer’s convergent evolution
The concept of evolution is very useful as it applies to cancer, because it forms a paradigm of understanding that simple genetics cannot match. Now, with an evolutionary lens, we peel back the onion of truth one more layer to see what is driving those mutations. That is Cancer Paradigm 3.0. Something is driving the mutations that are driving the unbridled growth of cancer. The answer to to Darwin’s question of ‘why do many birds have long pointy beaks’ is not ‘random genetic mutations’. The answer to Cancer’s question of ‘Why do so many cancers share similar traits’ is also not ‘random genetic mutations’. Something is selecting these cells for survival. That something increasingly looks to be mitochondrial damage and metabolic health.

Prior to leaving for the trip, the 71-year-old Trump said the length of the journey would not be an issue for him, CNN reported. "It is grueling, they tell me. But fortunately, historically that has not been a problem for me," he said. "I'll let you know if I don't stay fresh. If I don't stay fresh, you'll be the first to tell me."

Libya's Slave Auctions And African Genocide: What Hillary Knew
A new CNN investigation has uncovered a network of slave markets operating in warehouses in various cities across Libya six years after NATO-led intervention in the country toppled the government of Muammar Gaddafi in support of US and UK backed rebels. And not only did CNN confirm the presence of slave auctions where human beings are being sold for as little as $400 in "liberated" Libya, but CNN's crew was actually able to film a live auction in progress, while also gathering the testimonies of multiple victims. Though CNN's footage and accompanying report is shocking, such practices have been quietly documented for years, and clear warnings were issued starting in early 2011 that Libya's black as well as migrant population would be the first to fall victim at the hands of the Islamist Libyan rebels that NATO's war empowered. From the outset critics of Western intervention in Libya loudly sounded the alarm of a genocide against black Libyans in progress committed by the very rebels the US, UK, France, and Gulf allies were arming - a fact so well-known that then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was personally briefed and warned on the matter.
