Will the Timeline of the Vegas Shooting Ever Stabilize?
Why don’t people just accept the official story? The problem is that the official story keeps changing, and promises to change again. The surprisingly malleable timeline of the Las Vegas shooting reminds me of this quotation from George Orwell’s 1984: “History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

The Vietnam War Documentary: Doom And Despair
Ken Burns recently released a documentary entitled “The Vietnam War: An Intimate History.” The script concluded with these words, “The Vietnam War was a tragedy, immeasurable and irredeemable.”1 That damning hyperbole neatly summarized 18 hours of haunting, funereal music, doleful tales by lugubrious veterans, and an elegiac historical narration voiced over a collage of violent images and thunderous explosions. In this telling, the anti-war protestors in the States are morally equivalent to the American soldiers who fought the war. Indeed, while the grunts seem soiled by the violence, those who evaded the draft and spat upon those who fought had the added satisfaction of seeing Soviet tanks manned by North Vietnamese soldiers roll triumphantly into Saigon.

City council members propose $100 per worker tax to pay for homeless services
With Seattle's homeless and housing crisis visible across the city, council member Mike O'Brien says the $63 million tax proposed by Mayor Tim Burgess is not enough to make a real difference. O'Brien says more money is needed to build upwards of a thousand new housing units over the next decade, plus fund emergency shelters and diversion programs to keep people off the streets and out of jail. "I'm talking about another $20 to $25 million," O'Brien said. O'Brien wants to get that money from a new per-head employee tax on the biggest businesses in Seattle.

Trump’s executive order on health care is a victory for Americans
As insurers flee Obamacare markets around the country, and costs and premiums skyrocket, President Donald Trump on Thursday took executive action to allow individuals to form associations and purchase health insurance across state lines. For months, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) advocated this free-market solution for Obamacare, and Sen. Paul’s staff worked closely with Trump’s cabinet on the order. According to Paul, health care associations will enable collective bargaining and therefore bring down premium prices.
