Las Vegas shooting: 'YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE' – SHOCK WARNING 45 minutes before attack
More than 50 people were killed and over 200 more injured after the Las Vegas shooting, according to Las Vegas police. Chilling video has emerged showing the moment gunshots ring out during the busy music festival, cutting short Jason Aldean’s appearance as the packed out audience escaped the shooter in terror. Joseph Lombardo, the sheriff of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, confirmed the shooter, Stephen Paddock, had been killed by police, adding his flatmate Marilou Danley, who was sought as part of the investigation is now believed not to be involved. One woman, who was at the Route 91 music event, claimed an unidentified woman had told other concert-goers they were “all going to die” after pushing her way to the front of the venue.

Only a matter of time before GOP fulfills promise to kill ObamaCare
The GOP has not yet fulfilled its oft-repeated promise to repeal ObamaCare, and pundits are busy declaring that the GOP has failed for good. Nothing could be further from the truth. The problems created by ObamaCare will outlast the latest effort to repeal the bill.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn, August 1914 (1971)
[Review] In August 1914, Alexander Solzhenitsyn provided a graphic account of the Great War’s pivotal first month on the Eastern Front. Too often, our attention is drawn to faulty execution of Schlieffen’s plan and the ensuing stalemate a thousand miles to the west. Solzhenitsyn masterfully captures the War’s opening events in East Prussia, using a blend of history and fiction to educate the reader on all levels of war: strategic, operational, and tactical. A credible historical account of what would later become known as the Battle of Tannenberg, and Solzhenitsyn’s adroit use of the fictional Colonel Vorotyntsev give the reader marvelous insights into 19th-century Russia’s foolhardy attempt to support a bleating ally and take on a 20th-century army before it was ready to do so (and much earlier than von Schlieffen thought possible when he developed his famous plan). The results proved that the Russians learned little from their 1905 debacle with Japan.

Don’t wait on history
If you’re an Episcopalian, take a moment and remember what the church was like when you first entered it. It doesn’t matter whether you were born into it in the days of the 1928 Prayer Book, “the Republican Party at Prayer,” and the glory days of baby booms and full pews, or if you’re a relative newbie, finding a compelling home in the Anglican tradition in the last few years. Since the days of peak membership in 1965, the direction of Episcopal culture has been powerfully driven by progressive crusaders intent on seeing justice done, no matter the cost.

After Vegas Shooting, It's Time to Take Private Security Seriously
The state goes to great pains to protect its own personnel from violence and harm. The public, on the other hand, seems far less concerned. In the wake of the Aurora Theater shooting, I suggested that private sector establishments ought to be expected to be more concerned about the safety of their customers. The issue came up again with the Orlando shooting in 2016, when the perpetrator simply walked into a private establishment with a rifle and started shooting. Unfortunately, this problem has become apparent again with last weekend's shooting in Las Vegas which has so far claimed at least 58 lives, making it the worst mass shooting in modern American history.

Bernie Sanders's "Medicare for All" is Good for None
Recently, Senator Bernie Sanders unveiled a single-payer healthcare plan called “Medicare for All.” The ... proposal would transition millions of Americans to a Medicare-style system over the course of four short years, all the while promising to expand benefits, eliminate deductibles, and cut costs. If that sounds too good to be true, it is. The assumption that Medicare can be a long-term, sustainable model capable of absorbing quadruple the number of current enrollees is flawed from the start..
