WATCH: New Arrest Video Shows NFL's Michael Bennett Lied About Why He Was Detained
New video evidence appears to suggest that Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett lied about why police officers took him down in Las Vegas in late August. Bennett claimed that he was the victim of racial profiling when police officers detained him outside the Cromwell Hotel following the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight as they were searching for a possible active shooter. However, newly-released footage shows that Bennett did not tell the truth about why he was detained. “The footage shows a 3-man police team — made up of 2 Hispanic officers and 1 black officer — identify Bennett as a suspicious person who did not get down on the ground as ordered during the hotel sweep,” TMZ reported Friday.

Why Europeans View Scottish and Catalan Secession Differently Than Brexit
Brexit garnered widespread derision from Europeans while Scotland and Catalonia doesn't.

The Real Reason Young People Can't Get Jobs in Africa
Youth unemployment in Africa is sky-high, and that's a serious problem. Today, 60% of all those unemployed in Africa are youth. And many who are working are underemployed. They scrape by as “necessitous” entrepreneurs doing what they can to survive, often juggling multiple informal jobs.

Europe Can Only Afford Its Welfare State by Heavily Taxing the Non-Wealthy
Governments on the other side of the Atlantic impose much higher burdens on lower-income and middle-class taxpayers.

Finns Aren't Breeding Taxpayers Fast Enough for the State
Redistribution programs only work if there is a large enough supply of new taxpayers to finance handouts.

PORNOGRAPHY IS WORSE THAN FEMINISM
If the Playboy legacy frustrates feminists, fine. But we cannot celebrate it, because porn is even worse than feminism.

US air force academy chief delivers stirring speech telling racists to 'get out'
The superintendent of the US air force academy in Colorado Springs addressed a direct message to those who left racist graffiti at the academy’s preparatory school earlier this week. “If you can’t treat someone from another race or a different color skin with dignity and respect then you need to get out,” said Lt Gen Jay Silveria, before encouraging the assembled academy of more than 4,000 cadets and staff to take out their phones and record him saying it again.

Trade and Prosperity in the States: The Case of California
International trade and investment support hundreds of thousands of California jobs. More than 700,000 jobs depend on exports, and another 778,400 jobs have been created by foreign investment in California. The state’s economy is weakened by special-interest trade barriers that increase prices and make it harder for California businesses to compete in the global economy. California’s congressional delegation should support policies that reduce the federal government’s power to interfere with how Californians spend their hard-earned dollars.

Key Patent Reforms Needed to Spur U.S. Innovation
U.S. Supreme Court decisions have weakened American patents by reading into the Patent Act new judicial limitations on eligibility and enforcement. A constitutionally dubious administrative review panel has eliminated large numbers of new patents and cast a cloud over the value of recently issued patents. Congress and the Trump Administration should work to eliminate inappropriate limitations on patentability and patent enforceability.

Why Trump’s Appeals Court Nominees Are Backed Up in the Senate
We applaud the president’s selection of these tremendous individuals for vacancies on the federal appeals courts. But they are just the tip of the iceberg. With more than 160 vacancies to fill, senators need to stop stonewalling and get to work confirming these highly qualified, conservative nominees.

Why a “Major Questions” Exception to Chevron Deference Is Inappropriate—and No Substitute for Regulatory Reform
The Chevron “major-questions” exception grants judges a legal hook to interpose their personal policy preferences for those of the political branches. The major-questions exception also undermines the separation of powers and needlessly complicates the congressional law-making process. Additionally, the use of this exception to Chevron deference would not necessarily reduce regulatory overreach—and could even exacerbate it.

Supreme Court Poised to Deliver Major Blow to Big Labor’s Power
The Supreme Court Thursday agreed to hear a labor case to settle an issue that it twice has ducked before — whether government employee unions can compel non-members to pay fees toward activities like negotiating contracts. Neil Gorsuch is set to be the deciding justice in this major case.

Criminal Aliens Taking Advantage of ‘Sanctuary’ Policies in Deep Red State
Immigration officers in Utah arrested a convicted sex offender this week who’d been living and working illegally in the U.S. for most of his adult life and was ordered to be deported in 2008. What took them so long? Jesus Guitron-Aguilera, a 56-year-old Mexican national identified as a “field laborer,” had been hiding out in Utah, the only Republican state in the country that gives driver’s licenses and in-state tuition to illegal aliens.

Why technology is killing us
We love the ease technology gives us, but we have traded something precious in embracing the next iGadget. For the most part, we have mindlessly grasped the next shiny object, and now we are seeing the consequences of not taking the time to develop the ethos, etiquette, and principles that are now so desperately needed in our relationship to technology. As Christians, we are called to think this revolution carefully, keeping at the forefront a biblical anthropology of what God has made us for as humans, both in our capacities and in our limitations.

Thurston County seized 18 goats from the very popular Lattin's Cider Mill Farm, and the Prosecutor's office discredits itself in the process.

By the time the next legislative session begins in January, there will be very few politicians of either political party in Olympia who have not been sued, fined, or found guilty of the state’s campaign finance laws.  Few political committees will escape unscathed either.
