The idea of abolishing passports is almost unthinkable. But in the 20th century, governments considered their “total abolition” as an important goal, and even discussed the issue at several international conferences. The first passport conference was held in Paris in 1920, under the auspices of the League of Nations (the predecessor of the United Nations). Part of the Committee on Communication and Transit’s aim was to restore the pre-war regime of freedom of movement.

Bad Economic Policies Kill More Children than War
Recent reports that infants now die at a higher rate in Venezuela than in war-torn Syria were, sadly, unsurprising—the results of socialist economics are often predictable. Venezuela’s infant mortality rate has actually been above Syria’s since 2008. The big picture, fortunately, is happier. The global infant mortality rate has plummeted. Even Syria and Venezuela, despite the impact of war and failed policies, saw improvements up to as recently as last year. From 1960 to 2015, Syria’s infant mortality rate fell by 91% and Venezuela’s by 78%. This year (not reflected in the graph above or below), Syria’s rate rose from 11.1 per 1,000 live births to 15.4, while Venezuela’s shot up from 12.9 to 18.6. Meanwhile, infant mortality rates have continued to fall practically everywhere else, and have declined even faster in countries that enjoy more freedom and stability.

It's impossible to isolate the "natural rate," and policies aimed at an unknown interest-rate target end up increasing instability.
It's becoming increasingly clear that "democracy" exists only when the voters choose the option preferred by certain pundits and politicians. When the voters go the other way, well, then there's just entirely too much of that democracy stuff going on. In the wake of Brexit and other referendum votes that go against the leftist political orthodoxy, elites have now decided democracy is a problem.
Iceland is not the only country coming up with "creative" ways to seize your wealth and income. The US is going down this path as well.
Prohibition kills a massive number of people in the United States every year. It does help make a few people extremely wealthy, but at the same time, it impoverishes the rest of us. This dire situation is mostly unknown, but it is not due to a simple misunderstanding or lack of knowledge about prohibition. It is because prohibition is nothing but a scam. From the state to private corporations, many groups benefit from marijuana prohibition. And, they will fight to keep marijuana illegal.
