Conservatives must understand the role of 2020 census in government bloat
“The Democrats and civil rights community will go nuts.” That’s what a former Commerce Department official recently told Politico. He was describing the reaction sure to occur over any decision the Trump administration takes to improve the next census. The intensity of the bickering that will break out may surprise Americans who consider this an arcane matter, but the fight will be over things that do matter. At stake, in fact, are billions of dollars in taxpayer money, electoral redistricting, and the very identity of the country. If you still think this is boring and wonky, you’re probably not a liberal. They get it. Conservatives often don’t.

Coeur d’Alene Woman, Paulette Jordan Announces Bid for Idaho State Governor
Paulette Jordan, 38, a Democratic Party member of the Idaho House of Representatives, and member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, has announced her intention to run for governor of the state of Idaho rather than seek a third term as a state representative. Paulette Jordan is now serving her second term in the Idaho House of Representatives and represents District 5 Seat A. She previously served on the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Council from 2009 to 2012. If elected Paulette Jordan would be the first Native American governor of any state and first woman governor in Idaho.

Op-Ed The pundits were wrong about Assad and the Islamic State. As usual, they're not willing to admit it
The rollback of Islamic State must come as a shock to the chorus of journalists and analysts who spent years insisting that such progress would never happen without toppling the regime of Bashar Assad — which is, of course, still standing. A cavalcade of opinion makers long averred that Islamic State would thrive in Syria so long as Assad ruled because the Syrian Arab Army was part of the same disease. The only job where your reasoning can always be wrong and you still have people come running to you for advise the next time is professional warmonger.

Mother Victoria and the nuns of Saint Barbara Monastery some 65 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, who had been evacuated as the Thomas Fire broke out late Monday, December 4, 2017, have returned to their monastery. “I received word this morning from Mother Victoria that the sisters will be able to return to the monastery today,” His Eminence, Archbishop Benjamin reported on Saturday, December 9.  “While there will be no running water or heat due to the lack of electricity, they are grateful that they and their buildings, including the recently completed chapel, were spared the destruction others have faced.  They expect there will be ash and other byproducts of the fire to clean but, and there is still considerable smoke in the air for now.”
